TRIPLE J BRINGS LIVE MUSIC BACK TO AUSTRALIAN TV

The ABC has announced that it will be launching a new live music TV show, aptly named 'The Set' and premiering Wednesday, October 21st and hosted by Triple J's Linda Marigliano and Dylan Alcott.

The pilot will feature performances from Ball Park Music, Vera Blue, Angus and Julia Stone and The Presets, and all filmed in front of a live audience of around 250 people from the backyard of a sharehouse.

We've been keeping The Set a secret for a while now and are pumped to finally share this news with you. A new live music TV show is going to be a great thing for Australian music, and hosting it together is a bloody dream come true.

Curated by different artists, each episode will see the hosts will invite two guest acts to perform before collaborating on a song together at the show's close. The ABC says you can expect to see artists like Illy, Odette, Baker Boy, Wafia, Mallrat, Angie McMahon, Tia Gostlelow, LANKS and more “to enter the purpose-built share house set for some unforgettable one-off link ups and performances.”

Angus and Julia Stone will feature in the show's premiere.

ABC's Head of Music and Creative Development Chris Scaddan said:

There's a real energy inside the ABC about this show. The Set will be something for a new generation of music lovers to call their own.

The Set will be broadcast each Wednesday at 9:30 pm on the ABC from October 31st and will also be available on iview. Additionally, The Set will also air on Saturdays from 10 pm from November 3rd with an extra half hour of content.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
