Nordost Releases Tonearm Cables +

Nordost has announced the addition of the Tonearm Cable + through its ranges that promises improved performance from your turntable.

Nordost Tonearm Cable + has been launched to help you get even more of those precious, untainted signals from your pick-up cartridge to your amplifier.

Naturally, Nordost has invested plenty of R&D time to produce purpose-built, low-capacitance cables that protect against signal loss and image smearing. However, it's not just cable construction, but also grounding that requires attention.

Nordost Tonearm Cable + Design

Following the release of the Nordost Valhalla 2 Tonearm Cable + at High End Munich 2019, the first of the company's cables to sport this unique construction and grounding technology, Nordost has introduced the same advances to the rest of its tonearm line - Blue Heaven, Heimdall 2, Frey 2, and Tyr 2 ranges.

Nordost Tonearm Cable +

Each new handmade in the USA Tonearm Cable + uses four, silver-plated, solid-core OFC conductors which are arranged in a twisted pair design to create a left and right channel. The tonearm cables in the Norse range are wrapped in Nordost's patented Micro or Dual Mono-Filament before both channels are individually wrapped in a silver, braided shield, to eliminate inter-channel cross-talk, according to the company.

Then, a separately shielded, silver-plated Bond Ground Wire, wrapped in Micro Mono-Filament, is incorporated into the construction to enhance performance and minimise the noise level, so says Nordost.

To further eliminate noise, Nordost provides two Detachable Ground Wires with every Tonearm Cable +.  These silver-plated ground wires,  complete with Micro Mono-Filament technology, connect to the shield of the cable, serving as additional ground loop prevention when needed.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
