New Australian Distributor for Simaudio

Total Q announced this morning that they have been appointed the exclusive distributor for Simaudio in Australia. In business for over 30 years, Simaudio have been designed and building high quality electronics for home use, representing high quality products that offer exceptional performance, competitive pricing and first class build quality and aesthetics to match.

According to Total Q, the focus of Simaudio is to provide ultimate enjoyment to the customer from the use of high‐end home entertainment music and surround systems. To that end, Simaudio is committed to building the finest, best sounding, longest lasting and most aesthetically attractive equipment one can own for a given price. To achieve this, Simaudio realizes that conventional wisdom with respect to engineering and general business practices are insufficient in today’s competitive marketplace. Therefore, all products manufactured by Simaudio reflect a forward‐thinking engineering process that is considered a generation ahead of the competition.

Simaudio offers two ranges which are both uncompromising in their approach to offering a complete system solution for the most discerning client. A raft of digital sources including MiND (Moon Intelligent Network Device) to be released at CES 2012 and amplification which challenges what was previously thought possible delivers fast, powerful and above all, musical performance which will have the most difficult speakers under control.

“We were instantly attracted to Moon, not only for their fabulous product which performs and is aesthetically second to none, but also for their philosophy on business, distribution, training, research and development. Moon is an ideal compliment to our established brands and will extend our high performance audio options. For our established dealers and prospects, Moon with TotalQ completes an idyllic solution,” said Rob Sanders Managing Director of TotalQ.

“We are also especially grateful to the previous distributor, Valhalla Audio, for the hard work they have put into the product and support they have given to the dealer network. It is our aim to carry on that work and build on the very impressive Moon product range,”

The “Moon” Range starts at a very reasonable $799 for the 100D DAC which is a 24‐Bit/ 192khz giant killer and will sit very comfortably with the recently announced180D‐MiND using Moon’s own iOS / Android app which controls high resolution network audio files and Internet radio. More details on MiND will be released shortly.

CD players start with the 260D at $2400 and use Moon’s proprietary transport mechanism employing in‐house developed hardware and software with the aptly named M‐ProDrive. The feature packed 340iDPX integrated amplifier has a built in MM/ MC phono stage, four input DAC, balanced and singled ended inputs at 100w per channel. Being an evolution of the legendary i5 the 340iDPX is one of the best sounding amplifiers at any price point yet only $5000.

Other matching integrated, pre and power amplifiers, phono stages, sources and DAC’s complete the impressive “Moon” range.

The “Evolution” range starts at $10,000 for the 650D CD player with four digital inputs and ESS Technology SABRE32 Reference DAC / Digital Filter ESS9016S working in 32‐bit Hyperstream™ to achieve unprecedented jitter immunity and low‐level linearity via a patented Time Domain Jitter Eliminator.

Amplifiers share the same aesthetic look and are suitably powerful enough to please the most demanding ofloudspeakers. The M‐eVOL2 volume circuit uses Multiplying Digital‐to‐Analog Converters (MDAC's) to vary the amplitude of the music signal based on the chosen volume setting. Since it is used in a dual‐mono circuit topology, there is one MDAC for each channel. As well, the audio signal always remains in the analog domain and is never degraded at any volume setting.

Each MDAC (a Texas Instruments DAC8812) uses a pair of current steering R2‐R ladder DACs that allows for operation in a fully balanced differential mode. Like the M‐Ray volume circuit, it provides incremental adjustments in 0.1dB steps, yielding a total of 530 unique volume steps.

The range is topped off with the new 850P preamplifier $28,000 and matching 880M mono block power amplifiers at $21,500 each with a healthy 800w into 8 ohms.
