McIntosh Returns to In-Car Audio
McIntosh fans will once again be able to enjoy the New York-based hi-fi brand's audio quality inside their automobile, as they say stateside.
McIntosh delved into in-car entertainment in the 90s as well as producing custom solutions for Harley Davidson as well as the 100th anniversary Ford GT. In the aftermarket, McIntosh car products were highly sought-after, and now, we are told that McIntosh is to appear in another American icon, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer - albeit in the Concept, for now.
Charlie Randall, President of McIntosh Laboratory, Inc., told StereoNET:
Working with the Grand Wagoneer team to bring these icons together on a concept vehicle has definitely rekindled our passion for a high-end audio experience in an automobile. As a company, when we tap into our passion for audio excellence, the outcomes are plain to see…and hear.
Being a concept vehicle and McIntosh's first ICE system in a while, specifics are thin on the ground. However, what we do know is that the system promises to be “exclusively designed, and custom-tuned to the vehicle's luxurious cabin”.
Naturally, you will get the trademark McIntosh blue lights and aluminium frames along with the company's much-loved sound quality. We are pretty sure there won't be any green-backlit valves, though.
The collaboration is being pitched as a great American comeback story with the “return of the original premium SUV and the return of the McIntosh luxury audio brand to automobiles”. The McIntosh Reference system found in the Grand Wagoneer concept along with screens for the rear passengers just might make this car the best place for a great night in.
Stay tuned for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Concept's unveiling as well as more details on the McIntosh in-car system.
