MAGNAT RELEASES RV 4 INTEGRATED AMP

German specialist, Magnat is a brand that keeps hitting all of the audio sweet spots.

To confirm this, you should look no further than the alluring, contemporary profile of the exquisitely styled RV 4 Hybrid Tube Integrated Amplifier that is now available.

The RV 4 was built to combine the tonal warmth of valves with the cooler sound of transistors. Put both together, and you'll end up with a lovely synergy of sound qualities.

When you think about it, a well-designed hybrid is a harmonious combination that delivers delicacy, smoothness, and an open-sound stage backed by the dynamic power and bass slam transistors are noted for.

If you ever wanted to illustrate the image of the cast-iron fist in a velvet glove, the RV 4 is the perfect vehicle.

Magnat's RV 4 builds on the qualities of the previous RV 3 but according to the company, offers superior sound quality.

As an all-rounder, the RV 4 has plenty to offer in the digital and analogue domains.

Analogue fans will love its built-in phono stage designed to work with both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges.

They'll praise the skies that they can connect their tonearm cables to the phono stage and what's more, they won't have to shell out to pay for an additional cable.

Digital fanboys will prize an amplifier with audiophile credentials that also offers wireless streaming capability via Bluetooth aptX technology. Its integrated Bluetooth 4.0 module is an appealing and convenient wireless feature and one worth having.

Especially when part of the RV 4's deal is also a high quality, built-in Burr-Brown DAC. Files supported by this DAC offer sampling frequencies of 44.1/48/88.2/96/176.4/192kHz at a supported bit depth of 16/24 bits.

Magnat hasn't skimped with connectivity options. Onboard are four high-level inputs, power amplifier input (Main In) for easy integration into a home cinema system, preamplifier output (Pre Out) for connecting subwoofers or additional power amplifiers, additional fixed level output (Rec Out), headphone output with high quality 6.3 mm jack, and speaker outputs with large, insulated screw terminals.

The RV 4 uses a pair of E88c tubes in the preamp stage while the solid-state output generates 140 watts per channel into 4-ohm speaker loads.

Magnat's RV4 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier measures 434 x 157 x 360 mm and weighs in at 18.5kg.

Blending traditional tech with cutting edge connectivity and contemporary styling, we can't wait to get our hands on the RV 4 for a closer look.

Available now, the Magnat RV 4 sells for AUD 6,999.95 or NZD 9,399.95 RRP.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
