LINN’S ELEGANT AND VERSATILE SELEKT DSM STREAMER NOW AVAILABLE

Linn has announced the availability of its Selekt DSM, an all-new network music player that promises to deliver a tactile and beautiful music experience for audiophiles.

The Selekt DSM is highly versatile allowing for various configurations either at the time of purchasing or add to it at a later date.

For example, the basic Select DSM as a streaming source is available for $7,995 RRP. Or order it as an integrated amplifier for $9,995 RRP.  Or you can purchase the Selekt DSM with Linn's Katalyst DAC for $11,995 RRP. But if you want the lot, or as an 'all-in-one', the package includes Selekt DSM streamer, Integrated Amp, and Katalyst DAC for $13,995 RRP.

As for the human touch element, Gilad Tiefenbrun, Linn's Managing Director told StereoNET:

We love the clarity of digital music, but we also love the tactility of physical records. It’s easy to feel we’ve lost touch with the immersive experience of playing a vinyl record – the LP selection, the lift-lower, the anticipation during those first pops and clicks – and that playing music requires only a swipe and a tap.

Selekt DSM revolutionises our physical interaction with digital music; every aspect is precision engineered for a tactile and enriched listening experience.

Gilad is referring to the Selekt DSM's jewel-like dial and smart buttons which can be personalised to your preference. The glass dial begins to glow when approached and turns with watch-like precision in response to a touch.

Crafted to feel like piano-keys, the customisable 'smart buttons' respond to your programming, and the onyx-black OLED display responds with detailed music information.

Linn were early adopters of DSP, and they refer to their implementation as 'Space Optimisation'. With this technology built-in, Selekt DSM will adjust the sound and optimise it for your room acoustics.

As stunning to look at it as it is to use, the Selekt DSM features stylish machined vents for natural cooling, chromed feet, and a plaque celebrating its handbuilt in Glasgow origin.

Linn Selekt DSM is available now.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
