Klipsch Sets Up Australian Operations

In a move that no one in the industry saw coming, Klipsch, the Indianapolis based loudspeaker brand have announced it is establishing direct operations within Australia.

The US speaker brand has been handled by Melbourne based wholesaler QualiFi, who reportedly “grew the Klipsch business significantly” in Australia since taking over from Adelaide-based distributor, Powermove, four years ago.

The new Australian operation will distribute Klipsch Group Inc. brands, including Klipsch, Jamo, Energy, and ProMedia speaker brands in Australia. The company has said its brands “will continue to be sold through its current and long-standing partners, including Australia's leading retailer Harvey Norman, various regional specialty audio retailers, and custom integrators.”

Vince Bonacorsi, Vice President and General Manager of Sales and Marketing, APAC, for Klipsch Group, Inc. told StereoNET:

Enhancing our premium audio brand presence and increasing our market share in Australia are significant strategic initiatives for us. We will continue to invest in this channel and create new opportunities with the exciting and vast portfolio of products and partnerships that we are bringing to market,

The move follows a growing trend by manufacturers to establish direct operations or subsidiaries in regional markets. In 2017 Bowers & Wilkins established its own office in Australia, cutting ties with long-term distributor Convoy International. Sortly after, Tivoli Audio followed suit parting ways with Melbourne-whoesaler Interdyn.

Klipsch enjoys a strong presence in retail spaces and a good percentage of market share locally thanks to QualiFi's commitment to brand support, marketing, and hard work over the past four years. We look forward to Klipsch Group building upon those solid foundations in the coming years.
