KEF TEAMS UP WITH PORSCHE DESIGN FOR NEW RANGE

With over 100 years between them as experts in their respective fields, KEF has teamed up with Porsche Design for three exciting new products set to launch in Australia this March.

Founded in 1972 by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, Porsche Design is a premium-lifestyle brand with a mission to take the principles and spirit of Porsche beyond the automotive world.

Meanwhile KEF who have been on continous quest since 1961 to find new and better ways to reproduct sound, have a reputation for exceptional acoustics. The collaboration of the two design teams has resulted in three outstanding new products.

Gravity One

KEF Porsche Design Gravity One

Crafted from a single piece of aluminium, with black accents, the winged-designed Gravity One is a Blueooth Speakers featuring KEF's famous Uni-Q technology.

KEF says the Gravity One sounds exceptional anywhere in a room projecting sound in 360° while configured back-to-back, twin force-cancelling auxiliary bass radiators cancel out unwanted forces and distortion, leaving only clean, natural bass.

With Bluetooth aptX audio support for CD-like quality sound without wires, a dedicated microphone, controls for calls, backup power for mobile devices, a 3.5mm aux-in for other devices and up to 10-hours of play time, the Gravity One is both a visual and a sonic statement piece.

Gravity One is available for $499 RRP.

With home listening taken care of, for those that appreciate sound on the go, the range also includes two products in the headphone category.

Motion One

KEF Porsche Design Motion One

The Motion One in-ear headphones feature brushed aluminium housings with a titanium finish and high-contrast black soft silicone neckband.

As you would expect from Porsche Design, Motion one are precisely engineered with Hi-Fi grade materials, expert tuning and advanced acoustic engineering that KEF says reproduces tight bass, spacious mid-range and crisp high-tones for a listening experience far bigger than their size.

Comfort and fitment were of big importance in the design aspect. A pivoted outer edge allows the headphone cable to be placed over the ear for additional support, while an ergonomic shell, angled to fit the ear canal, provides a comfortable fit.

Motion One also features Bluetooth aptX audio support for CD-like quality sound without wires, or there's a provided cable when playing back hi-res content.

Motion One are water resistant and offer up to 10 hours of playtime from the built-in battery.

Available now, the Motion One In-Ear headphones are $399 RRP.

Space One

KEF Porsche Design Space One Headphones

Designed for the commuter or traveller, Space One are active noise-cancelling headphones featuring a bold and distinctive use of aluminium in their shells, with a sandblasted titanium finish.

Crucial to the success Space One was intricately tuned sound and impeccable style. With 40mm drivers together with a large 20mm neodymium magnet and a lightweight copper-clad aluminium wire voice coil, KEF says the specially-tuned active noise cancellation eliminates external noise without affecting the nuances and details that bring music to life, preserving smooth high-tones, lush mid-range and tight bass for total musical enjoyment.

For hours of comfort, Space One employs breathable, sweat-resistant leatherette over memory foam for extreme comfort.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
