ELAC Announces New Solano Loudspeaker Range
ELAC has launched its new three-model Solano speaker series comprising the BS283 bookshelf loudspeaker, FS287 floorstander and CC281 centre speaker, promising to carry on the German brand's tradition and qualities.
Additionally, the Kiel-based manufacturer states that it focuses on overall performance rather than emphasising individual elements. ELAC says that it chose a sleek rectangular shape combined with a gently curved front baffle, elegant lacquer finish, solid aluminium base plate, and front-facing drive units to create a timeless look.
The Solano Series sports the company's JET5 tweeter that can transmit up to a supersonic 50kHz. The mid and bass drivers combine an anodised aluminium membrane with ELAC's AS-XR assembly process and utilise cast aluminium baskets. The low-end is further augmented by a down-firing system in the BS283 and FS287. This is said to offer an effective way of balancing the loudspeakers perfectly with the acoustics of your room. Furthermore, you can choose between mono-wiring, bi-wiring or even bi-amping.
The floorstanding FS287 is a 2.5-way, bass reflex system and has a quoted frequency range of 30Hz – 50kHz, whereas the BS283 still manages 41Hz-50kHz. Sensitivity is stated as 85 dB/2.83 V/m for the bookshelf and 87 dB/2.83 V/m for the floorstander. The centre channel has a 34Hz–50kHz claimed frequency range and 87.5 dB/2.83 V/m sensitivity.
The ELAC Solano is expected to available from the end of February in high-gloss black and high-gloss white finishes. In Australia the range will sell for $2,995/pair for the BS283, $5,495/pair for the FS287 and the CC281 at $2,295 each for the centre channel.
