CLEAN POWER WITH IFI AUDIO’S DC IPURIFIER2
Digital audio experts, iFi Audio, have just launched their new DC iPurifier2. The new device takes over from where the original unit, released in February 2016, hands off. The iPurifier2 also brings some new skills to the table.
Listening to music on your home or desktop audio system should sound perfect but chances are it doesn’t, and that’s often due to noise and distortion created by the power supply connected to any of your sources.
Retailing at $149.95 RRP, the new generation DC iPurifier2 boasts a further optimised version of the much-acclaimed and award-winning ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) system adapted from military radar defence technology.
So, if you have a noisy power supply, insert the DC iPurifier2 between that and the device you want to use – it could be anything from a DAC to a streamer – and the noise will be reduced by a factor of 316x to 100,000x.
The DC iPurifier2’s ground-up, ultra-wideband design leaves no stone unturned. According to the spec sheet, it’s useful from 1Hz all the way up to 5GHz. However, the strongest performance is in the audible range of 20Hz to 20KHz.
Handling everything from 5 - 24V, it comes with a variety of adapter sizes making it compatible with all power supplies - 5.5x2.1mm, 5x2.5mm, and 3.5x1.35mm.
It is fitted with a red protection LED which lights up should the input polarity is reversed.
Naturally, as expected with all iFi products, the iPurifier2 is built using quality components. For example, inside you will find Panasonic SP-Cap Polymer Aluminium Capacitors with an ultra-low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance). These also have excellent noise reduction as well as stable temperature and frequency characteristics.
Additionally, the high-precision MELF (metal electrode leadless face) resistors have excellent accuracy, stability, reliability, and pulse load capability. You also get custom operational amps with ultra-low noise and fast speed as well as new copper-alloy shielding for excellent EMI shielding.
All of that is fitted into a ‘Final’ aircraft-grade shielded aluminium chassis.
The DC iPurifier2 is available now.
