BOSS HUNTING WANTS YOU TO BUY A TURNTABLE THAT WON’T WORK

We're big fans of turntable company U-Turn Audio. It stormed the market with its USA-built and hand-made turntables in 2012 via Kickstarter and has gone on to be a trusted and reliable entry point into vinyl spinning.

The downside, at least Downunder, is Aussies can't buy them. Unapologetically, the company does not produce a 240V/50Hz version of its turntable, and even if they did by the time it shipped to Australia exorbitant shipping fees would probably swallow the appeal of a low-cost turntable.

As such, U-Turn Audio does not even offer the ability via its direct-sales website to purchase from outside the USA, or Canada. No harm done.

But what did make us take exception this morning was the Australian luxury and high-end products blog, Boss Hunting, which generally we're also big fans of, spruiked the U-Turn Audio turntable with the headline, “U-Turn Orbit Special Walnut Turntable Is A Bachelor Pad Essential”.

Tobias Handke writes:

If you're an avid vinyl collector looking to upgrade or just keen to inject a little class into your bachelor pad, look no further than U-Turn Audio's brand new Orbit Special Walnut Turntable.

With a bit of a blurb out the way, Boss Hunting then encourages you to buy one for US$459 and sends the reader off on their merry way with an affiliate marketing link (courtesy of Viglink).

Perhaps Boss Hunting wasn't aware that U-Turn Audio products are not suitable for Australia or able to be purchased? But when we brought it to their attention, instead of updating or removing the article, they just deleted our comment. The article in its entirety remains in place firmly on Boss Hunting's blog.

For a working alternative option Downunder, look at any of the similarly priced offerings from (in no particular order) - Rega, Pro-Ject, Music Hall, Yamaha, Audio-technica and many more - no affiliate marketing links included, and you can rest assured that here at StereoNET, we'll never put profits over integrity.

A public service announcement :)
