joeling
Any amp recommendation to drive the LS50?
MrBob1624706060
I think the KEF Qs are great for HT. I have the iQ30s as FL and FR and the iQ2c for center channel. I'm using the Mission MiSpheres for rears and they surprisingly sound fine. Need a recommendation for the SW though, currently, using an earthquake (supernova mk iv 10), plenty of boom but somehow does not sound right. station8000
Hi, anyone here have a slight idea of the price for R500 & R700? Which store offers the most competitive price? Many thanks
tane0019
GP Acoustics: 1 Coleman Street, #01-01A, The Adelphi, Singapore, Singapore, SG-179803. Think this is the only Authorise Agent in SGP. I think price wise should check with them directly. But very roughly base on UK pricing, R500 should be less that S$3K & R700 should be less than S$4K. kuryakin
i thought GP acoustic (listed GP industries) is The KEF Owner, not authorised agent? BTW anyone auditioned the LS50 yet?
station8000
Thanks Tane.....have you auditioned them yet? Any advise? Think of changing my 5.1 including sub...

tane0019
i thought GP acoustic (listed GP industries) is The KEF Owner, not authorised agent? Checked, you are right - GP actually owned KEF & another speaker brand.

tane0019
i checked with them, Fedex whole set: R700, R400b, R200c and R100 HK2800 Pairing wise, should aim for LCR with R700 + R600C
station8000
Pairing wise, should aim for LCR with R700 + R600C I agree. .....but price is quite a gap. I guess I could save some on the centre and spend more on the mains. r700 instead of r500. :)
tane0019
Maybe Peter Siew can help to ship cheaper from HK to SGP ?? Smaller Center, HT experience not so good. How much is the different ?
station8000
Have not checked the price with HIVIzone, but local dealer quoted about $600~$700 diff. By the way, who is Peter Siew and how do I contact him? Thanks. Hmm...I may consider a bigger one if their price is not too much higher....but then again spending $1500 ~ $1800 for for a centre speaker is quite a big sum. Tane, you've got a big centre speaker? does it make lots of diff? my current centre is sort of small....
tane0019
http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=114061.msg791483#msg791483 He can help save freight cost from Europe & US. Don't know if he has lobang in HK/China or not. In HT - Front 3 speaker output more than 50% of the sound. Plus also to balance the front 3 sound effect. But, didn't really compare the diff between the big vs small center.
Quest88
Dialogue + maybe 80% of the soundtrack comes from the center speaker. Those will show the most differences.
jimi1624705950
Dialogue + maybe 80% of the soundtrack comes from the center speaker. Those will show the most differences. But you still don't need one?! :)
Guest instinct
the kef ls50s are amazing, i find the soundstage much bigger than the r series, not sure which one i tried, its the one thats around the ls50 size. the imaging is good as well, very easy on placement. overall, the sound may not be the best in terms of detail, airiness, but it certainly is a joy to listen to, at least to me. station8000
LS50 is extremely competent when used in a room setup for music enjoyment. Have you checked the local price?
Quest88
But you still don't need one?! :) Different considerations than this topic. We are comparing using an inferior center vs better center speaker. If willing to dump the center totally and add better LR speakers to run 4.1.. that's a different story. Guest instinct
the ls50s are 1.8k, pretty reasonable la
