Nice, did you consider the Richter version?

Just curious as I'm trying to decide on a set for whichever speakers I choose to keep, one of which are ML's like yours so it may be relevant.

I have a set of Richter outrigger feet under my Mission 782s shown part way down the previous page in this thread. They’re indeed very nicely made but I needed wider to suit my Martin Logans. Richter only do the one width that I could see. I did go there first.

Did a little footer shuffle today.
I removed one of the four Isoacoustics Isopuck minis from under each monoblock and put them and some spares I have under my pre and power supply after removing some no-name sorbothane blocks there first.

I swear these little things perform wonders for the sound and I’ve ordered another couple of boxes of them for under my Mac Mini and phono stage, etc.

Also ordered tonight, a 5m Wireworld Supernova glass fibre TOSLINK for either, tv to pre in the house or, USB bridge to pre in the car. I use a 0.6m of the same cable between Mac Mini and preamp and it’s phenomenal.

I also cancelled my Tidal Master subscription today in favour of Qobuz. The more I listened to either, the more I liked the cleaner and more 3D rendered version of songs through Qobuz.

This arrived today.

It’s a benchmark album for me. I remember hearing it for the first time on CD back in 1987 I think it was. It was on a system in Acoustix in Lorne Street, Auckland, NZ, a retail competitor a few doors down the road from the shop I worked at.

The system was a Nakamichi OMS-7, CA-7 & PA-7 through some B&W Matrix 3 speakers and my jaw dropped. Its one of those audio experiences I had in my formative years I’ll never forget.

Consequently, this album has been played many times since then.

I had other such experiences since then, the most memorable being a Townsend Rock/Excalibur arm/VDH Grasshopper, Quicksilver valve pre and 80w monos and Apogee Caliper ribbons. In both cases, it was the sheer scale and weight of the performance that impressed on me most and I was absolutely transported.

This afternoon I moved all the electronics back onto my Hark stand as I move everything out from between my speakers.

I'm currently listening quietly to Melody Gardot and I needn’t have worried about stepping back from 1.5m Red Dawn LS RCAs to 5m Blue Heaven Flatline XLR. The sweetness I got with the RD is lost in favour of a detailed coolness which I quite like. Maybe this is BH or, maybe it’s just going from RCA to XLR.

🤷🏼‍♂️

Might need to borrow your sub, if your ML's don't need them. 😂

Jealous of your listening space. So tidy.

Sunfire and Accustats (?) should be an ok combination. A friend of mine in Auckland ran some off the end of a semi-vintage Threshold with good results.
I've yet to find equipment that doesn’t benefit from sitting on Isoacoustics products. Have fun experimenting.

my sub is still here if you want it shipped over. Bit of a trip though getting it over to you in Northland.

The sunfire and Acoustat combo is a Statman (Supratek) find.

It was a windup regarding the Sub😅, I have a few spare panels that I can use to double area and if push comes to shove I will steal my wife's Kef KC62, little white sub. 😉

Cheers

For a while now I’ve been battling a room null which has influenced my sound stage positioning negatively. Essentially, it’s being pulled to the right and it really, really bothers me. For some reason over the years I’ve been absolutely anal about having a solidly centralized centre stage (when it’s recorded to be this way of course) and this room of mine just hasn’t wanted to play fair.

Tomorrow morning, some changes will happen in an effort to address this. Pics coming...

If you have direct radiating speakers pointing more-or-less at the listening position the center image should be about in the center. Room acoustics shouldn't really affect that too much. If I was dealing with an issue like this my attention would be on the pre-amp. It would be an easy test, just swap the L/R channels over and listen if the shunted center image remains where it was before or follows.

Yup, imbalanced room veteran here.  And it also fell to right.  Not a perfect solution, but after lots of speaker relocation etc I finally bit the bullet and took on pre-amp(s) only with balance control.  The AM RT-2 dual mono config, is particularly good at it.  I get it though, that this is not a Plan A solution for many - A

I blamed my preamp first until I swapped it. Then I thought it was one of my monoblocks until I swapped them around. The I thought it might have been a faulty driver and even a panel on my latest speakers. Process of elimination tells me though all the electronics and speakers are fine. My Cyrus pre has a balance control but the null is so bad, adjusting the balance makes little difference until my right speaker is almost muted. Wall treatments were somewhat effective but still don’t quite fix things and my brain is left having to work too hard to think stuff back to the centre.

Its somewhat comforting that I’m not the only one to have had this issue but I’m sorry at the same time it affects others as well.

Such a lovely thread, enjoyed all the photos of the beautiful room. 😍

Thank you. Sadly, the view out the window wall to the left now looks across the driveway and straight into scaffolding for new townhouses. No more trees. We knew it was going to happen eventually though.

Today started like this:

and a few hours later, it ended up like this:

I should have set it up along the room right from the beginning. With the windows open behind the gear, it’s a lovely deep wall of sound with everyone exactly where they should be in the performance.

it sounds phenomenal now.

a few more snaps:

I'm the opposite. I prefer a very dark room with minimal ambient lighting for my listening sessions. It is when you can't see that the sense of hearing really comes into its own.

Sweet, looks heaps better I think. Just being able to look out the window while listening is a big bonus I think.

thanks.
I think it looks better too. Shame we can no longer look out to the lovely bush behind our place though.
