haygeebaby
Yo boys Need some help. I purchased a Benz phono stage Pp1 last week from Canada. Possibly a little too excited and not thinking, I plugged the unit in. I heard a weird hum from the wall wart unit. Then a small pop from the phono unit, and wow, then some smoke. Got a bad electrical smell, and I remember we are 240v down under. Expensive mistake? Yep. Feel terrible? Yep. Anyone do this before and can recommend a course of action to fix the bastard! rocky500
I think you might have only fried the little power pack that comes with the phono stage. Could be you just need to chase down another power pack and one that is suited to Aust. Edited October 14, 2015 by rocky500
rocky500
Something along the lines of this http://www.jaycar.com.au/Power-Products-Electrical/Plugpacks/AC-Output/Mains-Adaptor-24VAC-1A-Unregulated-Bare-Ends/p/MP3032
Telecine
Hopefully it is just the wall wart that is fried. Try sourcing a suitable replacement and let how know how you go.
Zaphod Beeblebrox
Agreed with other suggestions. It is likely that the power supply is the only item which has been damaged. A third party device should be fine.
