O.Sydney
The May 2015 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again at Dence Park for an afternoon of fine music, great sound and amicable company. Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. For our May meeting we have the core system of a dedicated and long-time club member. Over the years he has built up an enviable system primarily based on Dynaudio and Plinius equipment. It’s a dynamic, immediate and impressive sounding system. Details of the system… Marantz SA-11S1 CD/SACD player – Refer to http://www.marantz.asia/ap/pages/home.aspx and http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue28/marantz_sa11.htm Plinius M8 preamp – Refer to http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/plinius3/1.html Plinius SA-250 Mk4 power amp – Refer to http://www.pliniusaudio.com/Plinius_Range/Power_Amplifiers/SA_Reference.html and http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/506plinius/index.html. Dynaudio Confidence C4 Mk2 speakers – These are large floor standing speakers. Refer to http://www.dynaudio.com/home-audio/confidence/, http://www.avhub.com.au/product-reviews/hi-fi/dynaudio-confidence-c4-loudspeakers-392652 and http://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/794/index.html REL Stentor 3 subwoofer – Refer to http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speakers/subwoofers/rel-acoustics/stentor-iii/prd_371075_2741crx.aspx. OCOS speaker cables, Nordost Blue Heaven Interconnects – I believe Dynaudio still use OCOS cables internally in its speakers. OCOS cables lend an extremely clear and fast sound. The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on CD/SACD. Sorry, no provision for vinyl or flash drives this month. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind.Guests are always welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door.Venue: Epping Creative CentreAddress: 26 Stanley St, Epping When: Sunday 17th May 2015 Doors open 1pmMeeting starts at 2pm Best regards, Tom Waters President Sydney Audio Club www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au tomwaters@sydneyaudioclub.org.au On behalf of Tom and the Sydney Audio club Inc.O.Sydney Edited May 13, 2015 by O.Sydney

Whites
With the room at Epping being quite large, the combination of those great speakers and amp should make it a great meeting.
A J
Not that I like this sort of thing- but this should be a goody - Dynaudio & Plinius go together like fish n chips Have a great day there

Not a bunch of the stereotyped balding/overweight audiophiles (I'm thinning and not too overweight but plenty of younger (& young at heart) enthusiasts to balance the age ledger, and music has the edge over equipment with every genre given equal opportunity.A big effort from our member to present his system!! collektor
Hi. I made the effort to get to this meeting and unfortunately for me, I had to go elsewhere so I could only stay for about 5 songs played through these impressive speakers. My only gripe was that the music was blaring. I am only 41 years old and am used to live music performances in pubs, clubs and theatres; however the volume was deafening for my young ears. I ended up with a headache after the track, My Guitar Gently Weeps, was played. All the people there seemed to be enjoying themselves and they all look like good sorts too. The acid jazz song played sounded like a live performance. The rock track played sounded a bit harsh to my ears. I had brought a few SACDs with me but I missed the opportunity to play any of them due to other activities I needed to attend. I will try to get to another meeting maybe in the latter half of the year. Thanks so much for the music. That demonstration system was very lively and musical. Cheers, Brett.
