Duntech CPs and other such Australian History Lessons

Recommended Posts

Australian History 101.

Starting with this hobby one and a half years ago, I began with finding a pair of Duntech Crown Princes based on the fact that I knew a tech rep from Duntech early in my Adelaide vibro-acoustic consulting career and agreed with the design and execution concepts of their speakers.  The latest addition of ME1400 amplification has validated the history lessons often posted on SNA.  Thanks to an SNAer for his Lenco GL75 while I decide on whether vinyl suits me.

I imagine sources are next on the curriculum!

I've heard the combo as well, during the courtship.

The other marriage?

It was all going fine until I bought tals lenco.... The problem now is that I fret over every artefact I hear with this vinyl combo, spend all night with searches over at lencoheaven.net for how I can improve the deck and working out how to drag myself out with the other bald trench coaters at record fairs. I'm not sure Kristen likes where this is heading!

Christosd

I think you do know whether Kristen likes where this is heading.

What you are having trouble with (I think) is whether you like where this is heading.

In all seriousness, sometimes 'less' is 'more'.

And listening to quality music with quality people is more important than accumulating quality recordings. (Borrowing quality recordings is another game altogether though)

May I ask what drivers are in those Duntech CP's?

Im just a preschool student in the school of Duntech - scanspeak mids with dynaudio woofers and tweeters.  Others should comment if they have more info or need to correct me.

Always afraid of what I might find, I hadn't dared strip them down to their felt jocks but here are a couple of low Fi photos.

Still haven't got around to getting a decent amp stand... have been in lenco-land... post-141188-0-44258700-1432390489_thumb.

Felt, felt and more felt...

Seems like they weren't reformed that long ago... Tidy job - whoever did them.

.. And inside the rear cutlery drawer...

Needless to say that I am happy to see things are in order (unless someone sees something up with the crossovers I couldn't see). Now back to that lenco.

I'm afraid it's hardly a knowledgeable technical opinion, but it all looks really good to me, Christos. :thumb:

I'll be happy when Andythiing's Marquis' look that pristine again.

Sorry about the low res, but I have shrunk all of the pictures to minimise my SNA footprint.

I have brought the family's Sonique 550SE speakers downstairs into the room to keep their much older, distant cousin company.

The Naim gear I freshened up really works well with the Soniques surprisingly considering how much of a bagging the old NAP250 gets.

I am going to leave the gear downstairs for a while at least as my large reverberant living area upstairs kills the fun. The ARC and DNA-1 are definitely looking lonely for another pair of speakers though...

I love the sideboard that the AR is sitting in. Is it new or a genuine 60s/70s piece?

Early 70's Danish Rosewood.  You should have seen my wifes face when I pulled out the multi-tool to get cable access through the back of it!
