dwbasement 4,866
Hi, not sure if this topic has been started if not here it is, I am sure there are heaps of ECM fans here and would be good to share some of your favourites. I will start with one of Keith's best solo concerts, this is a 10lps box set, hours of amazing music. Soundscape 5,483
Where do I start? I am new to this stuff, but a few I have enjoyed lately are Ralph Towner & some Oregon, John Surman, Egberto Gismonti, Charles Lloyd, Anouar Brahem, Kayhan Kalhor, Vassilis Tsabropolous, Alexander Knaifel & Arvo Paert. I have the original vinyl pressings of Jarrett's "Concerts" series. It is such a timeless label.....

Soundscape 5,483
Yes, and Koln edit, the box is signed on the back "Oren Ambarchi 6/5/86". I must have bought it from him in the redeye secondhand store over twenty years ago. Edited March 27, 2015 by rehabit@
RankStranger 3,785
I have Koln on vinyl. A bit of surface noise but holy crap it sounds good. Also Hymns/Spheres which is just Jarrett and a massive pipe organ. He gets some wild sounds out of it.
dwbasement 4,866
I have the original "concerts" and the new 180g of Koln plus a few of his other ones on CDs and original vinyl too, great music. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Soundscape 5,483
I agree. Great music, but I find Keith's grunts and moans a bit off-putting at times

I have Koln (2LP), Concerts (3LP) and Sun Bear (10LP). Also got La Scala, Paris, Vienna, Rio, and Radiance on CD, but the first three are me faves. --Geoff

ABG 2,540
Currently giving this a spin for the first time and enjoying it greatly. A few imperfections on my copy, but by and large it plays very nicely. Like most ECM releases, it has original and genuinely interesting/engaging compositions.

Hi Andrew, give it a good clean or if you have record revirginizer, it should sound better, I bought this used at least a year ago and have not clean it at all, only listened once on one side only.Cheers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited April 13, 2015 by dwbasement

buddyev 4,428
ECM are a trustworthy and carefully curated label so you know whatever they do its going to be interesting. I'm a big fan of John Surman who i discovered through the brilliant Thimar album, which also lead me to Anouar Brahem Edited April 14, 2015 by buddyev
Soundscape 5,483
I think Surman's music has such a spiritual quality. He uses synthesizers to great effect, and his circular breathing creates an absorbing minimalism. Edited April 14, 2015 by rehabit@

The name of the band gives it away. Usual ECM SQ but perhaps not your usual ECM release. For me impossible not to be sucked in by its hypnotic spell.
