Originally the table had a Denon 103SA and it sounded really nice.

Edit: I have a AT440mlb fitted to my other table so I will give that a go until I find a replacement.

I have a DD, quartz locked table (technics sl1400 mk2) and promised I would just put the 2M red on it until I could afford the right cartridge.  Turns out the 2M Red is a steal, especially if you play a lot of 2nd hand records.

Got the old girl running - playing what it knows best with a brand new AT540 cartridge. Beautiful turntable! We look at each other thinking we're the same age ?

I'm always keeping an eye on Hifido on the off chance my wallet and the stars align so that I can jump on the Sansui bandwagon. Sadly my wallet is a bit thin for this AU-07 Anniversary, but it looks like a beaut if anyone has a hole in their collection.

My Grandparents beloved AU 4900 which sat unused in my parents garage for over 15 years until one day last year I uncovered it and instantly fell in love.

My intention was to use it in my 2 channel setup at my new place but when I fired it up and got a couple of songs in, the volume pot went scratchy and then the unit went 'pop' and blew a fuse. A replacement fuse also went 'pop'.

Given it's age and stock condition my assumption is it will need a recap and thorough service.

It'll celebrate it's 45th birthday this year and I'd love to get it up and running again.

Any recommendations for a trusted repairer? I'm based in Melbourne but would be happy to ship interstate to the right person.

I have owned a Sansui AU666  Amplifier  and Sansui SP2000 speakers since 1971, the amplifier is still in good condition but still could do with a major service

it takes awhile to warm up crackles and pops  a bit , does anybody know of somewhere in Western Australia where I could get it serviced please ?

Maybe try Mike @ Liquid Audio. He seems to know what he's doing with classic Sansuis, and is a professional.

Believe it or not the 907 pretty much got more comments then just about any of the gear there.

cheers,

That's because it's better looking than anything audio companies make these days.
(Vintage gear is always cooler than the modern stuff)
