Evening lads.

Had me a little Alkaloid festival this arvo while dog proofing some low gates in the back yard.

Alkaloid  'The Malkuth Grimoire'  2015 Self Released.    Digital.

Alkaloid  'Liquid Anatomy'  2018 Season of Mist.

Now...  I have a sneaky admission to make and I dare not post it on the TOOL thread for fear of creating outrage.

I have listened to 'Aenima' maybe twice, when a friend gave me the CD.  The same with 'Lateralus' which I have a vinyl rip of on the hard drive.

I can't explain why I don't listen to them, just one band that never took my fancy.

I've been reading the TOOL thread a couple of time a day, keeping up to date with it.  I must say it certainly has stirred my interest in giving them another chance.

I have digital copies of 'Opiate' and 'Salival' as well, and tomorrow I'm gonna have a listen to 'Aenima' and 'Lateralus' without distraction and see where they lead me.

With my new turntable I'm pretty keen to find nice, new vinyl again, and I hope the price of 'Fear Inoculum' won't be prohibitive, I'm in no hurry for it though.

Cheers.

Ant.

Hey @08Boss302, I didn't realise 'Clandestine' was their second album, I haven't heard it before.  I've got a digital copy of 'Left Hand Path' and 'Inferno' on vinyl, but my introduction was with 'Wolverine Blues' on CD after hearing 'Rotten Soil' on JJJ's Three Hours of Power.

I just had a surf for the FDR vinyl of 'Clandestine' and found a two disc copy for $32 delivered.  Will be buying it on Monday after transferring funds into my internet account, Man! I wish I did that yesterday.

The price of the live version is a little steep, think I would rather have that on DVD to watch as well as listen.

Thanks again mate.

Ant.

yeah man, different singer on clandestine but its a monster of an album, wolverine blues kind of the next step into that more accessable sound they worked with.  LHP is still the crown jewel, nothing will touch that but Clandestine is in its own right a monster.

a few years back Earache did the FDR of LHP, Clandestine and WB, i grabbed them all. i have the OG cd's but i really like the FDR vinyl stuff and have grabbed many of them as they've come out - dismember, bolt thrower, carnage etc.

i think you'll really like Clandestine,  i agree re the live version though, i've got the CD and vinyl of the original release but will only grab the live DVD and just use Tidal to listen.

I listened to this, earlier in tidal

Not sure what to make of it yet, they certainly push their audience which is a good thing but I thought the last release was great, instantly great, this may take a few spins.....

Nice copy of this one, despite the roughed up cover.

About to listen to this next one for the second time, very impressed on the first listen...

I've just ordered this on-line, from Fishpond.com.  I purchased Entombed's 'Clandestine' from them, very happy with the vinyl.

Amon Amarth  'Berserker'  2019 Metal Blade Records. Music for Nations.

1947715133_AmonAmarthBerserker2019MetalBladeRecords.jpg.ff3173f0ad92dd83c970ac031865f0b4.jpg

I'm on the hunt for more Metal Vinyl and seeking your help with any 'new' vinyl recommendations, and also on-line suppliers/shops.  Cost is always a factor, especially with postage as I can't justify the price of shipping near or over the price of the record.

I'm also after some help with re-issues.

I've ordered 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' on Rhino Records from VinylDestination.com.au, but missed the description point that it was 'out of stock', 'awaiting more'.  We'll see how long that takes.

I've heard that the Sabbath Rhino re-issues aren't too bad.

I steer away from Sanctuary re-issues after buying Maiden's 'Killers' a while back, but from what I've read the Maiden Rhino re-issues aren't very good either.

Any experience with Judas Priest re-issues???  Just read on the Steve Hoffman forum that the 'We Are Vinyl' 2017 re-issues are pretty good, but seems they are by Sony, a little wary about those.

Any input from you guys will be much appreciated.

Cheers Big Ears.

Ant.

Sorry mate, I had no idea you were chasing one, l if I knew I'd have let you know.  Great phono stage, worked well on both my tables, it was quiet and delivered  great SQ.  I also purchased separately the Swagman Labs LPS, it dwarfs the Mani physically but was worth the purchase as it delivered more dynamics.  That said, with or without the LPS the Mani is hard to fault and especially at its price point.

I've just bought a Denfafrips Ares II DAC and one of my phono stages needed to go (I had 4) and I decided the Mani was sacrifice otherwise I doubt I'd have let it go.

They come up every so often, if one pops up again and I see it I'll tag you in dude.

Once again been a slackarse on this thread but new speakers arriving at the end of the week to hopefully rekindle my metal spark. In the meantime I recieved this "Listen To Metal On Vinyl" shirt from Frank at Channel 33 RPM. Anyone going to this years Hifi show will spot me sporting it so come and say g'day if we haven't already met.
