Love his movies. If you like his quirks and weird sense of humour you’ll like the rest.

Bests of the bunch are probably The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom and The Royal Tenanbaum.

Saw Isle of Dogs recently. Very good too but I prefer The Fantastic Mr. Fox a lot more.

Thanks for that. The only other I've seen is The Grand Budapest Hotel which I loved so I'll check out the others.

I also love his films, but am yet to watch Isle of Dogs.

I really enjoyed Rushmore and Bottle Rocket too, but The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Royal Tenanbaum are my fave 2 flicks.

Pacific Rim: Uprising - bit childish but that was expected, otherwise 5 out of 10...

Den of Thieves - excellent action movie invision_classic_thumbsup.png

Was it really? I have it in my To Watch List but not sure. Have heard split views on it.

I thought it was pretty good for a movie about giant robots fighting giant monsters...not a shade on the first one but sometimes you just gotta switch your brain off. (Looking at you Michael Bay and the Fast & Furious franchise)

it wasn't bad but I wouldn't rate it as high as first one...

I bought 3 Blu-rays for $40 at Sanity today. Deadpool, Transformers: The Last Knight and Star Trek: Beyond.

I'm on holidays at the moment.....out of interest, which should I watch first? I'm leaning towards Beyond.

Deadpool has become one of my all time favourite movies. YMMV. Beyond wasn’t as good as the other two IMO...Beastie Boys withstanding. And Last Knight...well...I drifted off at one point.

stevoz, just pick one and watch it, then the next etc. The easiest way to have false expectation is to read reviews or ask others what they like. Just because others did/didn't like a given piece doesn't mean that you will feel the same way.

All three are good, switch the mind off and have fun in the CGI experience flicks. But Deadpool is very unusual for a comic based flick.

Just came home from watching Deadpool2 💀...... it’s as good as numero . Belly laughs all the way through. Can’t wait for number3. Girls are great to,

Morena Baccarin is gorgeous, Brianna Hildebrand continues the attitude,

Zazie Beetz is a great addition and Shiori Kutsuna is very cute.

Currently watching Mr Robot S1. Finally. Only 1 episode left. Episode 9 was brilliant. Really liking this. It chewed into my Jessica Jones S02 binge.

Watched Annihilation and Tomb Raider last weekend. Not a fan of the Netflix film. Tomb Raider was ok IMO.

Planing on binging SWAT (2017 TV series) and maybe watching Den of Thieves. Or rewatching Justice League...

Den of Thieves got bumped for Ready Player One. I liked it. I don’t get the hate. Some people take their movies to seriously.

Ready Player One is my absolute favourite so far this year.

"Solo" was good, in a Star Wars geek kind of way.

Still waiting for "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Cheers,

Alberto

I watched the new Tomb Raider last night, and quite enjoyed it for the couple of hours of light entertainment it was. Alicia is a very fetching lass, much more so the AJ in the original.

Watched 12 Strong after that and enjoyed it too.

I started to watch Lady Bird, but the long work week caught up with me after a few minutes, so I'll watch it tonight after work. I'm a big Saoirse fan so I'm looking forward to it.

Watched Sweet Country last night. Very good movie. Tough to watch at times and some uneven performances but overall a worthwhile, sparse and honest film.

Having come of age during the emergence of 'new Hollywood' I was able to relish first runs of "Easy Rider", " " Bonny and Clyde" " Soldier Blue" " Little Big Man" and the like. But two favourites which I never tire of are little low budget efforts,

" Trilogy of Terror" and " Evil Roy Slade".

ToT was the one in which Karen Black made her claim to the " Ultimate Scream Queen" moniker. The episode with the doll in particular , earns nods of recognition from those who had goosebumps all those years ago.

ERS was one of the most delightful pisstake movies ever, and again, mention the name to folks of a certain age will produce a broad grin.

Both movies had cult followings at my high school, and were namechecked at a class reunion some years ago.

There have been scarier and funnier films since, but these two can hold there own.

Billy.

Two classics indeed!. Still have both on VHS somewhere and have fond memories from my childhood staying up late for both of these to watch on TV

You want a tv treat. Now on ABC iView ;

SCORE - it’s about how the music for the movies is made. Put it through the HT, stereo/ 5.1 etc. really good background info from the composers and how they put the music to the films , so many soundtracks are covered. History, emotion, discussion.

Best 1.5 hrs TV viewing I’ve had for a while.

I just watched the 3D version of 'Ready Player One'

Quite liked it, so many references to other games and movies, even me being well into mid 50's knew most of the references.😀

I did find that I needed to change the 3D settings from Normal to +1 on my Panasonic EX780, as the 3D effect had quite a bit of ghosting if left at normal

Monday night I watched Star Trek: Beyond. I really enjoyed it, not a bad story, very entertaining overall, great visual effects and a great soundtrack.👍

Last night I watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Again I really enjoyed it. While the story wasn't perfect, I thought it had an actual Star Wars feel to it, as opposed to the 'prequels' lack of. One thing that disappointed me slightly, was the soundtrack. Lacked the LF slam of Star Trek and I had to turn it up a few notches in volume to get it really cracking but even then it lacked the punch one would expect from a modern blockbuster. Still acceptable though.👍

Both blu-rays.....

Re watched "Ready Player One" last night, what an awesome movie! Still up for the best movie 2018 for me. Must be showing my age...

Another one, "Coco", what a beautiful movie. Obviously it's very Disney'y, but there's some great moments and a very clever plotline. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and the depictions and scenery are top notch, really worth a watch. And funny to boot as well.

Cheers,

Alberto
