Well it's that time of year again, the 2014 show starts today. Needless to say many are excited including myself. I'm gearing up to cover as many, if not all rooms if possible.

I'm missing out this year, but I went last year (same venue) and had an excellent time and a range of sonic experiences that I can still remember well.   If you are in Melbourne and not too familiar

The trip from Sydney to spend two days at the show was certainly well worth it for me. Fortunately my daughter lives here and so I had my accommodation covered. I managed to get to 3  out of the 4 Mar

Some women do, there are even a few of us hanging around here. Amazing really, given the... err, lets say, um, ah (how do I put this...) -- lack of gender inclusive sentiment on display in the choices

Hmmm, it looks crowded. If its like that when I turn up over the weekend, I may just keep walking

Well then you'll be missing a lot. That's just the foyer. What were you expecting, 3 people to turn up?

Then that's my loss. If they don't have venues available to accommodate large numbers of people at one time comfortably, then I'm basically not interested in attending. Which I may add, is why I've not been to any previous ones.

I wouldn't stress too much , you have three levels of show, more than enough room to accommodate everyone....

That's interesting, M, who's the dork taking a picture of the audience? :D The question is rhetorical BTW!

Cheers,

I always find it interesting and instructive reading or hearing people talk about why they do not attend things.

I will be going tomorrow and I always look forward to it. Obviously it is never going to be ideal acoustically but where else can you see so much great gear in one spot?

If you are just interested in  listening in comfort then something like the sessions at the Burwood Music Centre would probably be better. I will get around to going to one of them too.

Disappointing show IMHO - lot fewer exhibitors and was hoping for an Atmos demo. Kryon Audio was probably best sound for me.

That has to be a record, 2hrs 51 mins to assess everything! Musn't be anyone there...

Im taking the missus on sunday and she asked if there would be many women going and I said yes of course women love Hi Fi.

I took my wife last year.

This year i said (enthusiastically), "Hey, the show's on again in Melbounre, want to go again?"

She said, (unenthusiastically), "I'll pass".

At least she tried...

Far out,

What is this! An Ashley and Martin convention?

Not only am i not able to go this year because of other family commitments - so far all is see are photos of the backs of bald heads and comments from people who complain about 30 blokes in a line make the show look crowded.

Where are all the photos of the nice stuff.

Marc, can you help please i'm suffering from nonattenditis.

I have to say, the show is very light - both attendees and exhibitors!

First round of photos, mainly AV and Head-Fi. Saving the good rooms for tonight and tomorrow.

The 2 stars of the show for me, one of them had me reaching for my credit card.

Alas this is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere and it's leaving the country on Sunday.

The AirForceOne looked strong enough for me to sit on and not disturb the music. A beast.

Amazing really, given the... err, lets say, um, ah (how do I put this...) -- lack of gender inclusive sentiment on display in the choices of avatar by a tiny minority here (see start of thread: unclemac and candyflip, yes, I'm looking at you).

Just sayin.

Yeah, unfortunately I have to agree - very different atmosphere to previous years unfortunately, so far at least.  I get the feeling that this could be the last in this series - hopefully that's me just being pessimistic. :(

After a beaut lunch with David and co, I decided on a very leisurely approach and didn't even bother taking a camera into the show.  So far, I'm enjoying it despite, or maybe because of, the reduced crowds.  I spent the afternoon sitting back soaking up the music in just 3 rooms for up to an hour each.  Kyron, Devialet (demo of S.A.M.S.), and Raidho were all very convincing and well worth a serious listen.  I was hoping the Raido D1's wouldn't be as exxy as they inevitably were!

Hopefully, attendances will pick up tomorrow, at least enough to give the right atmosphere without overcrowding. :thumb:

Amazing really,

(By way of generalisation) the overweight over-forty male comes to not expect that there are realms and horizons beyond more of the same overweight over-forties males, methinks.

Meantimes the photos on this thread tell me there are hifi realms of which I can only dream.

Shiny.  Very shiny.

Which is the shiniest I wonder?

PMG room was drool-worthy. Also enjoyed legend, telos, Kyron and raido. Hated most of the music on demo - was not to my taste (seriously - Lana del rey to show devialet speaker correction?)

:edit- blasted auto-correct!

Ah the old chestnut about the music.

Took until Post 39, not bad

(just having a laff, because this is always a perennial favourite) :)

A very eclectic selection was being played in the Raidho room after about 7.00pm. :thumb:

I did like the guys at Legend simply asking what I wanted to listen to.

Oh, Mike Fremmer's session was excellent
