Tyler Childer's new album is well worth a spin. Fantastic live in the forest.

Who said protest songs were a thing of the past

Guess what the meow is a metaphor for and who could she be singing about

Another great record from possibly my favourite singer

Yep, it's always a great lineup.

On the country/bluegrass front- the highlights this year were Tyler Childers, Mike and the Moonpies, Town Mountain,  Po Ramblin Boys, Garrett T Capps, Courtney Marie Andrews.. Last year was Paul Cauthen, Charley Crockett, Colter Wall.

All worth looking up.

(Nathaniel Rateliff had Luscious and Preservation hall Jazz Band join him on stage. Lots of fun.

From the new single, Sturgill Simpson seemed to have moved further and further away from his High Top Mountain & Metamodern Sounds days. Oi loik!!!

Hopefully the whole new album Sou d & Fury measures up.

This is making me thirsty

I love the way country music writers play with phrases

I don’t love you any more

Trouble is I don’t love you any less

funny and sad all at once

Charlie Louvin one half of the Louvin Brothers

or this

I’m down to hurtin once a day

all day long

and once a night

from dusk till dawn

Real drinking music

Sir Van does a killer version of this on his country music record

Just thinking I’d listen to a Once Were Beatles playlist

After Charlie think I might cheer myself up with a couple of hours of sad songs and 🍺

Starting with seriously sad Jason Molina

Not written by Loretta but pretty good sad song

Makes me thirsty

What on earth was she taking photos on a railroad track for

The incomparable Loretta Lynn

They’re gonna put me in the movies

They’re making a movie about a man who’s sad and lonely

They’re gonna make a big star out of me

And all I’ve gotta do is

Act Naturally

That’s what I call song writing

A Simple direct sad tale and humorous in just a few words

Buck Owens

Also a hit for an ex Beatle

One of my favourite records of all time

Bought way back in the 70’s Because I read that you know was on it even though at that time he was largely invisible

One of the real glories Of Rock n roll Doug Sahm

Hows that for a cast of characters on the cover

One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen

Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch

A lot of country music being made now is as good as this but I don’t know of anything better

I posted briefly about this album, and the other two recordings by these guys in the 'currently spinning' thread, but didn't think of this thread at the time.

I bought this album a few years ago, but I sort of forgot about it for a while. I dug it out recently for another listen, and was blown away by how good it is, have no idea why I neglected it for so long. Have been playing it quite a lot over the last couple of weeks.

I used to be someone who thought he didn't like country music. Well, that may still hold true for some styles of country music, but I think this has real integrity. My attitude to country music has definitely changed over the years, and I no longer have a stereotyped view of it.

Unfortunately, their albums must be out of production, as people are asking eye watering prices for them. Check out the listing on amazon.com.au for this album, and try not to fall off your chair!

Two of my favourite tracks, but its a hard pick, there no duds on this album.
