Country music or what young people know as Alternative Country or Alt country

Ry Cooder - Pull Up Some Dust and Sit Down

Not sure it's country music but it maybe has some hints as to why DJ Trump came into being.

With tracks like, No Banker Left Behind, I Want My Crown, Christmas Time This Year and Lord Tell Me Why? plus a great impression of John Lee Hooker on JL Hooker For President

One of Australia’s finest musicians

Found this by accident on Tidal

One of those great singers not because they have a great voice but because they understand the song and know how to sing it and make the story real

Bills records are a mixed bag some great songs some good and some misses but he’s a a wonderful live performer in small rooms

Famous for being Kasey’s dad and mainstay of any band she plays with but Bill’s a national treasure in his own right and deserves a place in Nashville’s hall of fame because he seriously does not fit that dreadful Tamworth whatever it is but it ain’t music place

First time I’ve played this and sounds great

And no I don’t mean the stereo?

And brings back a lot of memories

God don’t never change

She’s God

Sings Lucinda Williams as only she can in a tribute to Blind Willie Johnson

Ive actually got 54 songs with God in the title

Not all of them in the positive though ?

Like Jim White

God was drunk when he made Me?

88 songs with the word Heaven in the title and 79 with the word Jesus in the title

According to iTunes

Another great piece of useless information

Thank God for computers ?

Of course none of these songs are likely to be heard at a happy clappers cult convention ?

But they all have their charms

Now that is a great record

i bought it when it was first released

Must be nearly 50 years ago

One of the best record covers I ever owned

Really thick cardboard that pulled apart with pictures of the recording sessions

Really enjoying it

Mines a CD so just a booklet, would love to see the LP version.

I see Amazon has it for $90'ish plus freight so maybe if I drop hints, early birthday present

Watched the Mary Chapin Carpenter, Live at Wolf Trap DVD last night. Highly recommended.

A singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin, makes an appearance. Anyone familiar with her & could recommend which album/s to track down?

Don’t know anything about Shawn Colvin but this is really good

Reading recent posts here, I'm inspired to pull out my copy of NGDBI

I used to have this on cassette back in the 80's...love the giant poster!

Not a huge fan of country but admit that some tunes can be very appealing.

One of them is from a very obscure record from the 60s. The classic tune gets such a unique treatment providing a melody that will take days to get out of your head.
