keyse1
Just heard something funny Sort of useless information that appeals to me Listening to the song You Ain’t Going Nowhere on a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band record written by Dylan and first recorded on The Basement Tapes in part the lyrics are pick up your money pack up your tent When the Byrds sang it Roger McGuinn got the words wrong pack up your money pick up your tent When Dylan re recorded the song for release he sang pick up your money pack up your tent McGuinn! Sort of a barbed joke as the Byrds made several Dylan songs mega famous by electrifying them Dylan loved them and was about this time he was shifting away from acoustic to electric guitar And now on this record Roger sings pick up your money pack up your tent Dylan! Remember this for your next trivia night

keyse1
Been listening to this for nearly 50 years And in the last few months discovered (with a recommendation from here) another great record that I hadn’t heard before This record led to my first Guy Clark record because he was the songwriter on one of the best songs on JJW album John Prine’s second record led to my first David Bromberg record because he played guitar on The John Prine record And the David Bromberg (who played with JJW) album has the best version of Mr Bojangles on it Never been a decade in my life when these songwriters haven’t been played no matter what genre I was diving in and out of at the time PS The David Bromberg record is for sale in the classifieds A record that good deserves a loving home
keyse1
Arlo Guthrie has Gone Fishing after some at first ignored health scares A lot of wonderful records over decades starting with Alice’s Restaurant and “Coming Into Los Angeles with a couple of keys”at Woodstock Lots of traditional folkie stuff-humour politics original songs and keeping his father’s songs alive One of his better records from that time
Ooogh
Not such bad news, I figured you meant he had gone fishing permanently , with God as it were. Must say as a young man my mates and I spent many an hour quoting each other lines from Alice’s Restaurant. ‘I mean I want to kill! Eat dead burnt bodies. And so I started jumping up and down yelling “Kill , Kill , Kill! Anyhow, it is back to the group W bench for me.

I was actually famous in my last year of high school after I recited the entire song of Alice's Rstaurant ( including differing voices and accents when required ) on the way home from a weekend school excursion. I had mentioned to a mate that I could do this and all the doubters soon gathered around to listen. After 20 something minutes ( or however long the song was ) they sat gobsmacked and I became an instant stoner rock cult hero and rock music advisor to the senior year.
