keyse1
Buy the cd box set The first 4 CDs are great I have no opinion or knowledge about sound in relation to cd versus record but the music sounds great Impassioned vocals great bands and although I don’t like the subject matter there is no denying the belief in at at that time in Dylan’s life Also contains one of his great songs that had never been heard before and a few songs that stand alone as great songs outside the religious prism that the others are in

keyse1
Celebrating Australia becoming a socialist state Who would have thought Probably my favourite song of all time And one of the best vocals I’ve ever heard Not in a technical sense That would be The Beatles or Al Green or Otis Redding r Aretha or Emmylou But for me there is something in Dylan’s voice beyond words that draws me into the song that usually only happens in broken hearted singing Not that That explains it It does explain why he got a Nobel Prize got literature and I didn’t though what I should be drinking

turnthetable
What another epic, brilliant song from Bob Dylan. I suppose you can use the title to mean whatever you want, but you would sell it short. I don't claim to understand the song in total but I like the imagery of the lyrics and with an opening line like "they're selling postcards of the hanging" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynching_postcards and http://www.chimesfreedom.com/2016/06/14/theyre-selling-postcards-of-the-hanging-the-real-lynching-in-dylans-desolation-row/ it's a reminder of how America was. So maybe it's a view of America through the years (or maybe you could use it for New York now) Anyway I think it's a classic and love it, family not so much, had it on a compilation tape when we went around Oz and put them all off Bob Dylan forever I think. Dilettanteque
Another list. I know they have the capacoity to start feuds. keyse1
Here’s a list The Best songs that Bob for unknown reasons decided to not put them on a record Also known (by me) as Bob’s greatest mistakes Sign On The Cross from The Complete Basement Tapes has so many great songs that if they were released it would stand alongside Blonde On Blonde and Highway 61 as the greatest records he made Mississippi First version on Tell Tale Signs So much better than what he did release on Love And Theft Great writing and even better vocal and now one of my favourite songs Making A Liar Out Of Me from Trouble No More a live record of Religion in the raw so to speak Great song probably with multiple layers of meaning Caribbean Wind Trouble No More There are a few versions but take your pick all great Dynamite live versions of a great song Abandoned Love From I think the Desire sessions Great writing and perfect vocal As good as anything on Desire as is Golden Loom from that time Red River Shore from Tell Tale Signs left off Time out Of Mind probably because he had too many great songs for the record Born In Time Tell Tale Signs from the Oh Mercy Sessions An unlistenable version turned up on Under The Red Sky probably his worst record This version is perfect both the writing and singing and music Great song How the hell could it not have been released???? Dignity Tell Tale Signs Multiple versions all great with slightly different lyrics Blind Willie McTell Vol 1 to 3 Bootleg Series from the Infidel sessions Better than anything on that record by a country mile as good as almost anything he ever wrote One of his most important songs Any song on Another Self Portrait is better than the released ones especially If Not For You with a violin Any of the born again live versions on Trouble No More are not just better than the released ones but such is the vocal and killer band that It’s like hearing them for the first time and I mean “hearing” the songs and their message although I remain impervious to conversion I don’t need it

I will see if i can find teh pics and scan a few to share here. Not great, but Dylan after all.
ericd
I'm in the minority, but World Gone Wrong is one of my most played Dylan albums. The world weary voice, the song choices, the slight distortion on parts of the guitar recording (intended or not). The whole 'straight to the point' feel. I hope there is a bootleg series of the sessions of this and Good As I Been to You at some stage (or is there already?).

But as an 18yo, an arena show ticket was a big purchase, considering that I knew Petty (my main interest at the time) would only do a few of his own songs and no mates would join me. Redeemed with 4x Dylan shows between 1998 and 2014 and the Heartbreakers in 1992.

audiofeline
Exciting news. New Bob Dylan album of original songs, "Rough and Rowdy Ways," is due 19 June 2020. Possibly 2-CD (needs confirmation). "Murder Most Foul" and“I Contain Multitudes” are suggested to be on it. I'm so pleased that it's not another album of cover versions! The promotional track, "False Prophet", has a strong blues influence, listen to it here: We can also celebrate that the cover design is not as bad as Triplicate was: Edited May 8, 2020 by audiofeline
audiofeline
Dylan's official store pre-order has "Rough and Rowdy Ways" as 2LP and 2CD versions. https://bobdylanstore.com/ Quote Its 10 tracks include the three new songs released this spring: the album’s lead-off track, “I Contain Multitudes,” the nearly 17-minute epic “Murder Most Foul” and “False Prophet.”
