A compilation of early Prestige 10" records.  I like the tracks with Monk solo the best.

After an afternoon of URCM cleaning we have been enjoying the fruits of our labours over dinner and post dinner.  First up was the remarkable:

The Modern Jazz Quartet, The Modern Jazz Quartet

Australian monaural repress. Beautiful and prominent piano playing.

Then we had the very excellent Ben Webster on a label I hadn’t heard of before, from the Netherlands and a 1974 pressing.

Now this is a fantastic album (1980 Japanese pressing). In fact I rank it as good as one of my other all time favourites, Gerry Mulligan meets Ben Webster:

Gerry Mulligan, Gerry Mulligan meets Johnny Hodges

It's an absolute cracker of an album, every track and the 2 microphone recording offers a very natural, dynamic  sound like they're playing live in front of you!

One of my favorite albums,  jazz or any genre. :thumb:

Cruising in the evening humidity up here to this. Slick as and smooth as the sip of an early G+T with a twist of cherry(no lemon here)
