Jazz: Currently Spinning

Recommended Posts

I recently had the chance through Air Raid Records in Darwin to acquire some great jazz albums from a well curated collection.  I am putting them through the URCM and the first cab off the rank is a 1965 German pressing that is sublime.

Of the several days in 1961 that produced Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby comes this 1984 US pressing. Recorded live, hugely enjoyable jazz.

I first heard of Art Pepper by reading a Michael Connolly novel (of the Hieronymus Bosch series) and tried him out.  He is a jazz artist I really enjoy and so I really loved this 1963 US pressing which sounds superb.

I also appreciated the liner notes for the thoughtful information and colour it provides.

Art Pepper, Intensity

One of the first Art Pepper albums I purchased, on CD.  Lucky enough to pick up a 1973 (stereo) US repress yesterday.  Gave it a spin this morning and it sounds sensational.  Will put it through the ultrasonic RCM and listen again.
