Boneshaker: Thinking Out Loud

Paal Nilssen-Love: percussion and drums

Mars Williams: reeds

Kent Kessler: bass

An album I recently purchased, and keep coming back to. Williams is the lesser known entity of the trio for me,  but he has played with Gustafsson, Vandermark and Joe McPhee, so I’m not questioning his pedigree. Some fine free blowing, with Nilssen- Love and Kessler being a mighty rhythm section in support. And they never lose their way. :)

Received this in the mail this morning. 3 cd discs of complete gigs at the North Sea, Ljubljana, and Oslo jazz festivals in 2016. Trio on disc one, added sax players on disc 2 and 3.

Superb improvised acoustic jazz. This month a 3 LP version will be available as well.

This is  an audiophile release on the enja lable. Recorded in analogue live to two track tape, the resulting SQ is outstanding. Music played are Gershwin standards nicely rearranged, with some of the improvised sections reaching into the realms of free jazz. Nice music, nicely played by great musicians.

Bob Magnusson - Two Generations Of Music

Half speed mastered, limited first edition direct to disc on the Trend label, the SQ on this piece of vinyl is outstanding. Good copies of this are getting difficult to find, and luckily for me this one is NM. Love the cover graphics too.

Bob Magnusson, bass

Daniel Magnusson, clarinet

Bill Mays, piano

Peter Sprague, guitar

Jim Plank, drums, percussion and mallets

Moving to another delivery box from@cheekyboy

Excellent packing as well.

Anne Bisson - Blue Mind

Superb SQ. 45rpm release. Nice open airy sound - piano, double bass and drums. Amazing vocals and excellent pressing.

Didn't know much about her but saw it was a new release. Canadian Jazz singer. Highly recommended.

Doing a comparison tomorrow with phonos. So just setup the Brinkman as it is meant to be setup - with granite base.

Thought I would get a few quick spins in before a wedding later today.

Sam Records release from Paris

Chet Baker

Very groovy as per his style. Great SQ as you expect from Sam Records. 1st time playing this for me and really enjoying it.

Misha chilling to it as well.
