Bought 2 new cars this week

Recommended Posts

Yippee, sanity prevails after all.

The 'Ring is back on my bucket list, can even hire Swift sports there or a Megane might be fun too

Flights are cheaper now Ken as the summer break is over so way you go, but how'd you pack that little black jigger into a suit case?

Hope that wasn't a typo ageless :0

I think a Megane would be quite fast enough for me on my first outing at the 'Ring.

My sales guy at Silverstar Motors took his wife there a year ago, and had a couple of laps in a Megane RS265. (He drove AMGs every day for work). He then took his wife with him for the 3rd lap and he said she screamed all the way around hehe

When he got back, he bought his wife a new car. You guessed it, a Megane 265. He 'borrowed' it from her for a track day at PI in January with me. It was as quick around turn 1 as mine. Sadly, his wife had fallen preggers and he was sad to be facing selling the 2 door at that time..

I heard he left MB and then kept it to be his work car and bought his wife something with 4 doors and a baby seat.

You gotta love the bug when it bites

And Monza 50% off in the winter in a Gallardo

https://www.puresport.uk/en/winter/monza-supercar-experience-winter-offer

For the price of 2 laps discounted at Monza, I got in 5 x 15min sessions at Phillip Island on Monday. Great fun kicking a V10 M5's arse although his little brother V8 M3 kicked mine.

Interestingly, the young GT3 driver (who kicked everyone's butt) ran behind me for a while checking out how the little AMG went as he has just ordered a CLA45 for himself as a daily. All good fun.

Found my next new car (when I get a job that is)

http://www.wheelsmag.com.au/reviews/1511/2016-mercedes-amg-c63-s-coupe-review/?utm_source=exacttarget&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=28042&utm_content=208339&user_id=c95a3226e3ca58aa30f802fd61652e0550c0a211

C63s coupe.

Heavy beast.

1725kg, wow that is extra pork

I still want one, especially hearing about the new rear end. Saw an S class coupe on show at Aust Masters yesterday. Yum, and looks so much smaller in rl. I had to go check it wasn't the new C, it looks short yet elegant.

That said, the new CLS they had on a display block looked way better than I remembered. It almost took the car porn gong over the S. Have they upgraded it lately? as it looked better than the older ones I see on the street.

The GT out front was ok too, just quietly

There was the new GLC on show at a par 3. - a hole in one on the weekend would take it. I used to drive the M class it replaces - similar but this one is more car like in lines and seems lower. I wouldn't want one now though.

went for a passenger ride in the new rs3 recently.

not a bad thing.

beautiful interior. very composed and refined.

masks the performance as it doesn't feel very fast.

good all-rounder for the mature driver.

Bathurst 6hour endurance race today

A single A45 AMG had its inaugural outing in endurance racing today

It proved to be surprisingly fast. 2nd fastest down Conrod at 257kmh and had fastest lap during the race around 2.28

Considering Bernd Schneider only did 2.24 flat in his yellow AMG GTS V8 last June, the little 1/2 sized 4 pot did OK.

After leading for most of the first 2 hours, reportedly the ecu went into limp mode , they went into the pits to try to understand a fix but sadly it did not reemerge.

Plenty of other cars also retired, but ultimately the very reliable and fast BMW 3ltr variants came in 1,2 with evos taking the 3,4,5 spots.

I very much enjoyed the live streamed coverage

Freudian slip are the best, Norp. It must have been at the back of my mind and just waiting to come out...

Had to Google Freudian slip... it's where you say one thing but mean a mother.

Looks ok inside

Some will complain about the ipad not integrated to dash - but I have heard that all before with my Aclass, it is very functional where it is and always used

Whilst the RS Ford wins over the new A45 overall, the only test it wins is the £ cost of ownership in the UK

All the other tests the A45 has it beat, even without the stickier tyre option. Still more than happy with my choice

I also loved the optioned up red Megane they used.

Great car the new RS, bang for buck is best for sure.

Norpus when they got to the tunnel test it was all over as far as I was concerned ! Not sure I was bothered to watch further ... But did

Winner winner chicken dinner ! As he said . Did you see the exhaust button ? Must be s new thing. Bi modal exhausts are all the range !

Their fun in the a45 immediately reminded me of the brief drive of yours :) the fire cracker of s thing literally and yet just so composed ! The merc won on practicality and looks as well ?

Looks like latest Gen it just goes from strength to strength :)

Yes, it still brings a smile Betty - the new facelift A45 has a few nice tweaks. The exhaust button doesn't sound any more than the old S mode did, just has a button. I quite liked the sound of the RS in the tunnel also, and like the 5cyl RS3 on song even more.

The user adjustable suspension, the closer first 3 gear ratios and the front lsd are improvements over the original, although when tuned they make the same power apparently (around 420hp, 550Nm).

I still have a year or so to enjoy on my lease, so will probably be buying again when the new model (not just a facelift) is due in 2018.

Then again, several other exciting options may have surfaced by then too

FYI

Both of these 4 yo vehicles are soon for sale

1. November 18 for the black A45, (avail the day the 4 year lease runs out)

2. Mid January for the yellow Swift Sport (when we leave VIC to go grey nomadding around Australia, immediately after house is sold.

Will put these both, plus many other household goodies, on the appropriate Want to sell thread shortly when I get up to date photos etc
