Telecine
Milli Vanilli music clips are said to be good reference material ; )
warrengday
Thanks. I was imagining there were TEST videos out there with a quick click sound perfectly timed to a big white dot appearing on the screen for a single frame.
L J T
I use one of those drum tutorial videos to get the sound synched. Sounds silly but works for me Much easier than using peoples voices!

ArthurDent
DVE has a lip sync track (a circle sweep, beep at 12 o'clock) or you can use the A/V sync pattern from http://www.w6rz.net (alternating colour/black bars with a tone on colour(?)). I think Getgray also has an A/V sync track on it. You could probably find this stuff on YouTube. Edited April 21, 2013 by KenTripp
warrengday
This is perfect: I've downloaded it in .mp4 .3gp .webm and .flv and put them on a USB drive. Shame my oppo 83 SE can't see any of these files to play them ! ! ! WT...
cmcook
you could try renaming the .webm file to a .mkv
imoza
If the problem is in the " eg. avi movie file itself " There is a program called VirtualDub,its a free download and fixes the lip/sinc issue very quickly.
warrengday
you could try renaming the .webm file to a .mkv Thanks. 83 doesn't find the .mkv file either on the front USB input. I've found if I just use the TV input on my HTP the A & V is insync.
proftournesol
why on earth do we have lip sync problems in the 21st century anyway?
warrengday
Indeed. Anyway, problem solved. Turned up the sound on the TV as well as the processor - bingo, an echo. Adjusted the lipsync delay until the echo disappeared. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication." Leonardo Da Vinci

Not necessarily syncing processor with the source?
warrengday
It's the TV that's introducing the picture displaying delay.
