Wow Terry, you are so generous. He should be paying you as a service just to get rid of them. Those Siemens are terrible..................

Comments from my system thread on the arrival of the Siemens A frames-

Interesting, will let the Siemens settle in but right now, they have introduced a bit of sibilance into the system methinks, vs the E88CC SQ Phillips. But again, will let them settle.

Awesome bass and a very lively sound, bass is fantastic and highs are good, soundstage is brilliant but if the sibilance and slight glassiness hangs around, the Phillips might go back in.

So far, I have not tried the Harmonix 6922's yet. The JJ's are the king of smooth and very very good. The Phillips take a touch of smooth out but add tonnes of realism but don't add any harshness, literally the best of both worlds, and a massive soundstage. For me they beat the JJ's but not by a mile.

I don't think anything does soundstage like tubes.

But who knows, once the Siemens settle all might be amazing. Time will tell.

Siemens 6922 + 6H30 = glassy treble? Just sayin!

No. It's a long story but my power amp' is out of action and I'm slumming it with a $3500 integrated (on loan) at the moment.

Brand new Sophia EL34 at the back.  Much fatter than your standard EL34, I had to get a ruler out to check the distance between centres to ensure they would fit.  New Ganalex Gold lions ECC83S and E88C up front.   Just knockout sound compared with JJ E34L and the JJ Goldpin preamp tubes they replaced.  The the amp drives a pair of Lowther DX4.  Some brass instruments and high guitar notes had been like nails down a blackboard lately.  Anti-Cable Interconnects and speaker cable deliver great bass.

Hey @palexsia, how do you find the Takatsuki compare with the WE?  And what others do we see there?

Hi Kenny

To answer your question WE300B vs Takatsuki

Price WE300B more expensive and mostly are secondhand to buy .

Life expectancy WE 300B will last longer that need to take into consideration ( 30,000 HRs ) because 1 pair of WE300B may last longer 2 or 3 pairs of others or more then the price you pay for WE300B is worthy .

Sonic WE300B is king of midrange no debate here , bass is not very strong booming sound but deep and relaxing .

Takatsuki is a new tubes

built quality is first class . Sonic can describe as this way , mid and high is clear and precise with a bit of punch , bass is strong as 211 tube ( far better than 805 or 845 my opinion as I owned these before ) very open wider sound stage like the cross between WE300B & WE211 tube , more powerful than any 300b tube I owned like TJ full music ( rubbish unreliable) , golden lion , princess carbon , EH , CETRON , EML 300b XLS and KR . If you want a tube with nice mid and high , strong bass ( open ,slamming ) then the Takatsuki should be the tube to go for . Hope that I can give you some ideas about that Takatsuki and I’m glad that I purchase them and will be my main tube for for 300B PP amps .

 My tube choice are

first WE300B , second Takatsuki , third Cetron ,fourth EML and last is KR . Can’t comment on others tube as I don’t owned and used them .

Note : all these tube has been used on the same amps , listen on same speakers ( same system) comparison , I’m using this Takatsuki on my amp ( photos) to drive the difficult Proac response 5 and Kharma with ease.  You are well come to listen to the wonder full Takatsuki at my home .

I had heard on a forum that there was a crackdown on tubes coming in from overseas due to them having arsenic, lead and so forth. Well it happened to me.

I got this email late last night about a set of RCA triple Mica solid disc 6922's -

"

Dear Mark,

We're sorry to let you know that your recent purchase through the Global Shipping Program from XXXXX can't be completed.

The item in question has been deemed restricted. This could be due to import/postage restrictions or eligibility requirements within the Global Shipping Program. The item won't be sent to you, nor returned to your seller.

Don't worry! Your full refund will be processed back to the original payment method within 72 hours. You may notice two separate refunds; a refund for the item and a refund for the postage and import costs. No further action is needed."

So getting tubes from the over seas (well the US at least) is going to be an issue going forward ;(

It seems fairly arbitrary. I get tubes from the US with reasonable regulatory and it's never happened before. Let's hope it's not the start of a new thing. I think the shipping was via pitney bowes in this case.

Something a little different.  These 6B4G tubes.  They are basically 2A3 tubes with a 6.3v filament and an octal base.  I used these in my first DHT SET amp because the bases and filament voltages were much easier to get at the time.  I still use the amp as my computer desktop amp.

The Sovteks on the left are single plate and the Winged-C tubes on the right are dual.  I never really heard much difference.  I bought the Sovteks first, and one of them failed, so I bought the others and they have been in use for ages.
