cheekyboy
Mondie, just go down to your local auto supplies place and buy a couple of cans of K&H Bumper and Trim Paint (formerly Bumperkote). DO NOT buy any other brand. You can spray this straight on bare metal, no primer required, and each coat dries in 10 minutes. Comes in matt black and grey. Tough, durable, etc.[/b] I was offering Mondie a preparation and coating commensurate with the quality gear he's going to have sitting on top of this stand. Los has done a great job so far and yet I see blue primed rhs that has been welded and with plenty of areas of bare steel that are already showing signs of rust........and if it was mine I wouldn't be just squirting some K & H bumper paint on it!! ...........anyhow, each to his own. Cheers, Keith

Maybe we will be able take you up on your offer at some point. It would be nice to see it finished off professionally. Ultimately that is what I would prefer to do, but as you may or may not know, the time taken to make these things is ludicrous. I am not sure how this thing will turn out and I would hate to waste too much coin on a wicked paint job when the table may not justify it. Rest assured it will have plenty of prep work tomorrow. It will have primer and I will do my best at getting a professional finish. After all, I am my own worst critic & I will have to look at the bloody thing every time I go round to Mondie's for a session... Hopefully it will come up looking the goods. TTT Mk II will be better..... Cheers Los

The TTT is all installed and ready for delivery in the morning of my new TT setup, l cannot wait Los and l gave his Luxman PD290 a spin tonight and were very impressed with the SQ. The Lux is a direct drive no suspension design, it benefited greatly from the solid table, no subsonics at all. Los has constant problems with subsonics at home so it looks like he is going to be making another TTT soon. l am still waiting on a maple shelf for the phono stage and TT PSU which fits 2/3rds up in the TTT,l hope to have it early next week. Warwick is bringing with him a home made Maple Seismic sink which the TTT has been sized for, this should be the finishing touch. Bring on tomorrow  Cheers Mondie

terry j
Ahh Mondie, it's good to see someone else with as much control over the CD sprawl as me!! warning, you cannot treat Lp's with the same cavalier attitude as cd's! mondie
l am now living in Vinyl heaven Buggered if l know why l didn't make the switch back years ago but l am sure glad l have, the difference between CD and LP is staggering. Vinyl junkies know what l am talking about and for those who haven't heard good vinyl replay, its worth seeking out a listen to remind yourself of just how good vinyl can be. Warwick drove all the way out to Sale to deliver the T/T?[/b] He sure did, l was very grateful that he came down and demonstrated the correct setup. As you know we have sold the house and will be on the move in 8-10 weeks so it will be up to me not to stuff it up. l get nervous just being near that nude cartridge at the moment ! mondie
Looking good there mondie . That radio head LP is one nice record . Cheers.[/b] Yeah its not bad, only had one listen. Wasn't blown away with the SQ, maybe l had high expectations after reading all the comments about it on the net. What l am completely floored by though is some of my good 80's records, Dire Straits Communique is like nothing l have ever heard before. l have talked about this one on SNA, l have it on an early German made CD and its damn good, probably just about the best CD l own. But on Vinyl its a revelation, now the CD sounds pretty lame. Looking forward to some more DS tonight Looking fabulous and undoubtly sounding the same. I hope to hear more of your impression once you have more time to form your thoughts.BTW what's in between the TTT and the wooden platform?[/b] That is a Seismic Sink type device made by Warwick. On top of the 12mm plate top of the TTT sits another steel plate with anti dampening material applied underneath with an inflated bicycle tube between the two plates so they are isolated from each other. Atop that sits the 30mm Rock maple platform. Its really impressive how inert the TT is on top of the TTT, the effort was worth it. Cheers Mondie

Cheers Mondie[/b] Firstly, that's a fabulous looking setup Mondie and congratulations...........you're right you shouldn't have waited so long to re-join the dark side. Dire Straits is on the top of my playlists on vinyl as all their albums seem to have dynamic range in spades and they really make you pay attention to what's happening.............do you have 'Brothers In Arms' on vinyl?......I reckon it's their best  Congratulations to Warwick too, his isolation work is first class. 2sheds
Dire Straits Communique is like nothing l have ever heard before. Cheers Mondie[/b] Mondie Cue up Love Over Gold, turn off the lights and listen to one of the most magical experiences EVER on vinyl, as the sound of the xylophone dances around the room - I never get tired of it - wonderful. Now forgive me, I have to run off and take my anti-envy pills.... O Lord won't you buy me a <strike>Mercedes Benz</strike> Acoustic Signature turntable.... cheers 2sheds

Cheers, Keith[/b] Thanks Keith, yes l do and l am curious to hear how this compares to the DDD CD. There was a big deal made at the time of Brothers in Arms being a full digital DDD recording so it will be good to hear just how it shapes up on Vinyl. You know Mondie ... if anyone ever got to hear your T/T setup ... the arguments about vinyl vs. CD would be settled immediately.[/b] Absolutely mate, its a night and day difference, and its not like my CD setup is low Fi either. In fact it probably owes me the same or more than does the new Vinyl spinner. Cheers Mondie
