Upfront
Very nice Dave! I see you have a new dac as well as the bacoon! Lucky bastard! Linc
Pops110
Hi Telecine, I sure did. They haven't come for free to me though, I have had to spend a fair chunk of splish splash to get them up and running at their best again. But it was so worth it, I just love the Gales and the Kenny's are pretty sweet too. Mario your right about the blanket, a thick doona over the Telly and on the shelf behind the right speaker works a treat. I just don't get to do it to often, to much of the missus crap on the shelf that I have to move. Hey Linc, yeah got the new dac, man I'm so broke. It works a treat, I love it. Can't really describe what it does but things just seem right now. I think Tuyen might pop round for a listen soon, he can take the Bakoon with him for a listen and your more than welcome to borrow it for a listen after him. Cheers Dave. pete_mac
Very nice Dave. Superb choice with the DAC19 and I'm glad to see that the 6100 is looking great, especially with the accompanying tuner.

Pops110
Thanks Pete, The 6100 is awesome thanks mate. The dac19 is a pretty special piece of kit, it sounds so right. The L1000 cdp is a bit sick at the moment, so can't wait to hear what that sounds like as a transport through the audio gd. I think it will be a far better transport than the Creek. Fun times ahead. Cheers Dave.
Pops110
Well haven't had time to update or post my thoughts on my gear for a while. Picked up a new toy today. Audio gd ref 5, so out goes the dac 19. Pretty bad photos, but you get the gist. The dac is bigger than my amp. First impressions are good. The bass has been one of the more noticeable things. Seems more pronounced and cleaner. There also seems to be more depth to the music. I seem to be able to hear more and deeper into the music. It's also very musical. So I think it's a worthwhile upgrade. All pretty cliched I know and my ears are probably playing tricks on me. But who cares, I'm happy. So thanks Braddles sorry for the stuff around yesterday. The L 1000 cdp and L 1000 tuner are at the doctors still so hoping for a good outcome on that. I think the cdp is going to make a far better transport than the creek, fingers crossed I get them back soon. I think I can see a good valve pre in my future. I have been using the L 1000 pre into the Bakoon lately. With the Bakoon at full gain and using the L 1000 for volume control and ease of use as I don't have to change ICs around. To my ears it sounds a lot better. So will have to investigate a bit further when funds permit. Cheers Dave. Pops110
A few pics of some other gear ive had and played around with lately. Nothing special, and most of them were freebies or very cheap., not high end by any means. But fun to have a play around with. Cheers Dave. Pops110
Well, I finally got the big girl back yesterday. She's a big mother, 15kgs and 23 years old now. Picked her up from the Doc and he has given her a clean bill of health. She should have another 20 years left in her. It just amazes me that a player this old can perform better than my Creek cdp. The Creek is not highend but it's not a cheap player, I think I paid $1300 for it. The L 1000 D performs better as a stand alone player but there is also a noticeable improvement over the Creek as a transport as well. Very happy chappy. I pick the tuner up next week as well. Have never listened to it before so keen as mustard to have a listen. It will be good to get the complete stack back in action again. I've also got one of the Isotek Polaris power board coming as well, so if it performs as others on the Tivoli thread have said I should be in for a real treat. I also got a set of Oyaide xlr interconnects from Pat at War Audio the other day for a really good price. I highly recommend them. Great cables. Cheers Dave. Pops110
Bout time I had a bit of an update. Just picked up my new toys. I have been after the 5.5s for ages and found some in Melbourne that I was just about to purchase. Then the big brothers, the 6.5s popped up locally. Happy days. I picked them up today, they are in very good nick. Gave them a oil and a bit of a polish. They look superb. Very happy with how they sound. They have a lot bigger sound than the Tannoys. Early days yet, still playing around with placement etc but they are an amazing speaker. Have had to sell off the Tannoys, my Creek cdp and a few other bits and pieces to get them, but couldn't be happier. Don't regret it at all.

Pops110
Not sure I talked her around. Shes not real happy, but I sure am. I think they look quite good in the room. Not too big, I think they are perfect size for the space. Now to try and get a set of horns in here somehow.

Pops110
I've got no chance for horns. Pretty happy with these bad boys at the moment. I loved the Tannoys but these fill my room so much better. They imaging really nicely. Got a rattle somewhere in the room now, got to track it down.
