Eastern Shore again today to look specifically for this orchid, found about 1metre from the side of the road.

Caladenia filamentosa.

I haven't posted any pix here in a long time, mainly because I haven't taken any interesting shots. Just not feeling that creative spark going to same places around Brisbane.

But I'm in Melbourne for the marathon on Sunday and hoping to hit the CBD and surrounds on Sunday night. Maybe that creative spark will return by exploring a new place.

If anyone has suggestions or wants to go on a photowalk then lemme know.

How small are we, or at least how tiny is my car. Single exposure.

OT--

There's a youtube video about the relative sizes of stars. It really puts our world (or our car😁) in perspective. The sizes are WAY beyond my ability to even imagine!

100 Billion stars in the Milky Way, a 100 Billion Galaxies in the Universe that's nearly 100 Billion light years in diameter. Hurts your head if you think about it for too long.

Reminds me of a Monty Python song.......just missing there must be intelligent life out there somewhere, why isn't there any here on Earth

Large Duck-orchid (Caleana major)

Nice to see the ducks out again. The flowers are quite small, smaller than a 5c coin.

Just a couple of Orchids from the Arthur Pieman Conservation Area, West Coast of Tasmania, near Arthur River.

Found 30 different types over three days, weather not so good for the last day.

Caladenia dienema, Winswept Spider Orchid, probably about 70-80 mm across.

Pterostylis aphylla, Leafless Greenhood.

The great big thumb on the left, only there for size comparison

While looking around for orchids this fly caught my eye, it looked odd.

First shot from the side that I first saw the fly.

From above the fly's back.

Never seen anything like this before!

Spiked by a plant!

How did that happen?
