This morning I was having a coffee in the local coffee shop when a customer walked in and was congratulated by the owners, "we saw your photo on the TV last night." She had had a sunrise over Port Phillip Bay from Altona accepted for the Channel 10 weather segment. Interested, I asked for a look and she showed me the photo. To my amateur eye it's very good. Having said that, many of the photos on this thread would get up, too. If you aren't sure, do it anyway.

sunshine industrial area, just off the M80, around 7:30am. really cold and wet. shoes heavy from all the mud.

Some years ago, probably 25 or so, I had to walk across that train bridge (for work).  Went across on the top one way and then on the gangway on the way back.   A freight train came along on our walk on the way back and made things quite interesting.

Out again today looking for orchids.

This Caladenia caudata (double headed) is one of the first for this year.

This one which is an unusual white morph, well that's what I reckon, waiting a reply from an "expert" for more information.

"Expert" has confirmed it is likely to be Pterostylis stenochila.

When I was in Queenstown the other week I walked across the road from my accommodation and took a happy snap:

Nikon D750 camera + Nikkor 16-35 lens @ 16mm, f/4, ISO 50, 20 seconds.

Not a bad view.

I took this when I did a hiking trip from SF to Seattle..

Russian Gulch State Park..

My first time sleeping outdoors in a tent ... cold, but the scenery was glorious...

Taken with a primitive 2mp Olympus back in the day when pocket digital cameras cost more than my current DSLR..

The past few weekends in Melbourne have been unsuitable to be out chasing native orchids. It's been too breezy. The forecast this weekend is looking good, so I'll venture out and try my luck. In the meantime a few images from last weekend.

Seems to be some sort of greasy smear on the lens there, Mick.  Where's the train?

Inspired by @awty's pix, I thought that I would give this image of a tree at Queenstown the old-timey look:

36267413523_94012d6587_b.jpg

Nikon D750 camera + Nikkor 16-35mm lens @ f/4, ISO 200, 1/100 sec.

An excellent photo.  What happened to the mountain range behind the peninsula?

You can still see the Remarkables, but there cloud cover and contrast obscures some of it.
