warnsey1 14
Well I just got Photoshop CS3 and have been playing around a little (very complicated program). I figured since there seems to be so many budding photographers on the forum we should have a thread where they can show off a few of their favourite pics as they happen. I'll start us off. These are only taken with a FZ-28 Panasonic (The Canon 40D arrives next week).
Keith_W 1,140
Lovely photos What lenses will you be getting for your 40D? Here are some of mine:
warnsey1 14
I'll start off with the Tamron 17-50 2.8 as it is a bit cheaper and suppose to be on par with the Canon eqivalent. After that the list is: Canon 100mm Macro 2.8. Canon 100-400L and the Canon 28-105L. I sure am good at picking the expensive hobbies.... Love the bee on the flower pic. What lenses are you using? Do you still have the 5D?

warnsey1 14
Well the 40D came on Friday so I went out tonight and took some shot. I am having a few troubles with Photoshop CS3 reading 40D raw files for some reason after importing them from the card into lightroom. Any Ideas??

Should be more of it - the birds that is, not so much of the bees (except bee-mers)... cheers 2sheds

2sheds 51
[/b] Yeah NFA. She married a bloke from Queensland (Bruce), had a few kids and lived happily down at Dapto. Impressive how well she managed on social service payments. She was a bit pissed off, though, when the National Geo guy turned up one morning unannounced. He almost collected her VB - stubby holder and all! cheers 2sheds The coffee machine? Well, bit of a pissing competition with the proposed Coffee GTG, I guess....

The girl in 2sheds image (of his cousin) was an Afghan war refugee photographed by Steve McCurry in 1983. Information on this photo can be found here NFA

Mr_Gadget 289
very nice mr Gadgetyou do realise there is only one step up from these machines, both mine and yours and thats a full commercial machine[/b] Well, your machine is a step up from mine (HX etc) but I couldn't justify the price difference for my use. There are a lot of machines in the 2K - 2.5K range, mine is $1299 RRP. Don't get me wrong if I could afford it I would have gotten the Domobar Super or ECM like yours, they are fantastic no doubt. In hindsite I would have spent more on a grinder. The Rocky is good but I can see the advantages in spending a bit more. With all that said, the skill of the person using the equipment is more important than the equipment itself...I have much to learn before reaching the limits of my coffee hardware.
Guest JohnA
you are correct on all points. My machine has been going strong now for almost 4 years Pump was the only thing that has been replaced and that was cheap enough. I dare say your machine should also last you a very long time Grinder i opted for a mini mazzer, but i think they are overpriced personally. and as you say, the barista is the most important part. You can have the best machine best grinder best beans, but without the know how your coffee's will be doomed

Guest JohnA
here are a couple from my weekend away in sydney yet to process all 500 photos I must say the coffee has improved, must be all us Melbournians complaining. Still Sydney seems to be the place to shop and Melbourne the place to eat and for cafes. Guest JohnA
Hey Andrew thanks mate, and yes Sydney Aquarium it was. Practice practice practice, its the only way to learn, and experiment. Its digital so nothing to lose Here's something for you to try with your second pic. notice how the background is overexposed, and some areas slightly underexposed. Its a hard situation to get right, but enter HDR If you use photoshop its built in. what you do is set the camera up on a tripod and take 3-5 pics. start from underexposing by 1 or 2 stops then work your way up to overexposing by a couple of stops. now you will have a series of pics and each will have each part of the scene exposed perfectly. Now enter all frames in hdr and presto. here is a good guide http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/
Aslan 278
Cheers, thanks John. I'll give it more of a workout on the weekend at Bathurst. Russ is coming and he has a lot of experience.........I will pester him somewhat.
Guest JohnA
No worries mate it takes a while and you will pick it up, we all still learn all the time. Do you shoot in RAW? if not use this instead of jpg, this way if you do make a mistake its easily corrected. RAW is like having a negative, just eats more space on your memory cards
Aslan 278
I have 8 gig of memory, thats over 2000 High Res jpegs, or a substantial number of RAW images. I'll give it a go.
