Feel free to add any pics or stories on any cars of interest.

Got a few iphone snaps of Rock n Roll George's beast today. I've seen the car cruising the city since I were a lad, and then lived in West End for 20 years and saw him every other day. Brissy has of course decided to adopt the vehicle as an icon of something or other since the departure of George, and it now lives at the Qld Museum.

I just looked at this thread for the first time and first pic is of a car my old man still has since 1966.  Still drives but doesn't have all the Nasco bits and pieces this one has.   Same colour though and better nick.

Time certainly enables you to see design cues from specific periods.  The Italians seem to have been reading from the same manuscript, remove the front spoiler and it could be a Fiat X19, the rear two thirds screams Alfa GTV to me. I wonder if the original design had the front spoiler and rear side wings, would be a far purer shape with those deleted.

Certainly, not surprising you may see the X1/9 in the car. The Jalpa being based on the Silhouette, the Silhoutte designed by the master Marcello Gandini, who also penned the X1/9 (derived from the Autobianchi Runabout concept). In terms of original design, you can see the more pure form in the earlier Uracco, also drawn by Gandini..on which the Silhoutte was based.

I wish we see more of these concept cars turned into reality in their original shape 😥 maybe one day...

Skoda has a pretty good record of releasing production cars reasonably faithful to the concept.  Things like the bespoke interior, lights and bumpers usually change and I expect in this case the frameless windows will also go.
