SOLD: FS. Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 (Black)

Recommended Posts

Item: Wyred 4 Sound DAC2 (Black)

Location: Canberra

Price: $1180 O.N.O + postage.

Item Condition: 10/10 (Apart from the dust it could be mistaken for new).

Reason for selling: Have pre-ordered a higher end DAC and need to pay for it somehow.

Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Credit.

Extra Info:

The W4S replaced a very highly regarded Weiss DAC2 in my system, and was more detailed, more musical, and had a better feature set. It was a complete bargain at its retail price, and is an even better at the above price. It has pre-amp functionality (for digital sources) with a remote, as well as phase reversal, a hi res USB input, and multiple other digital ins (including IS2). It is build like a tank (really really really solid), and was made in the USA.

Sound wise it is highly detailed without being overly analytical, and has great drive and body. It is very neutral but isn't at all clinical. Reviews can be found here:

Aus retail is $1950, but it can be had new for around $1750 depending on the exchange rate on the day (Deep Hz Audio are excellent in that way). I have all the original packaging, software, etc. And can include a W4S P1 Ultra power cable (US plug) which retails for about $150, for another $80. I am only selling the W4S because my most loved DAC of all time (more expensive than the W4S) has received an update and I have pre-ordered it. I need to sell the W4S to help pay for the new purchase.

      Price: $800 Item Condition: Excellent Shipping Options: Pickup is available,Audition is not available, but in-person pickup can be arranged with limited personal contact Suburb or Town: Sutherland Shire State: New South Wales Payment Method: Cash, EFT Reason for selling: Upgrading This pre-amp / processor requires very little introduction. Was Marantz flagship processor and supports the recent codec, such as DTS-HD MA and Dolby True HD. Has the ability to map height or width channels however it doesn't support the latest Atmos, Auto & DTS-X object sounds.

      I have the original box and Auddessy mic, remote is working, but isn't perfect, however I have always controlled the unit via Marantz App.

      Will serve someone looking for a great experience with surround / 2 channel sound not looking to move into the new object audio.

      Note supports both XLR and RCA connectivity which can be mixed based on your configuration. Also offers 2 channels for subwoofer connections and eq.

      I do have the original box, my preference is pickup, but will ship if new owner is willing to pay arrange / pay courier and take risk of shipping damage

      While I have requested $800 I would also be open to a straight swap for a panasonic DP-UB9000 4K player

      Impeccable Vincent SV-400 Integrated amplifier.  Have original box, packing and remote control.  Great amp, lots of grunt for the money  and super quiet -- and sounds great too.  RRP is $999:  https://www.selby.com.au/vincent-sv-400-integrated-amplifier-black-sv400b.html

      The weight alone shows that a solid power unit has been integrated, capable of guaranteeing stability. The 6800uF filter capacitors, a ring core transformer and electronic volume control all make a clear statement. The SV-400 is also equipped with a D/A converter in order to playback music formats offered by a PC or music server. A USB socket acts as the input here.

      Hi,

      So currently I have nothing setup, but have narrowed down on speakers and am looking for what avr/power amp/dac are required to make work everything I desire.

      Id like to be able to have a 2ch setup for a main tv/kitchen/living area, with speakers to play:
      - music currently on a hard drive (internal and external);
      - tv/movies through streaming apps like Netflix through a Fetch box or a Xbox1 or a Chromecast;
      - streaming apps/Youtube through casting from an iphone.

      Sound quality of music is the priority, but I do find it much easier to hear spoken words on tv with separate speakers.

      I have been looking at Ascension speakers from Adelaide and talked to the guy there last year.  The likely model will be around 150 wrms at 8 ohms. I will call him again to discuss, but if I remember correctly from what he recommended last time, an AVR to drive such speakers is expensive relative to the speakers just to offer extra channels that I don't need. Would a suitable alternative be a 2ch power amp plus a second device to hand all the digital inputs?

      Emotiva BASX A-300 or AMC: 2N100MKII-2 are both 150w 8ohm power amps for about $800, but an AVR that can do 150w at 8 ohms are about $5k - what am I missing here? Ive looked into this several times over the last year and I feel like I am just going round in circles.

      Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
