It could be the TV is not recognising the audio format that is being sent... JSmith

Its an old tv and it wont handle many modern codecs .. Its also an entry level loewe so wont have much in the way of decoding .. http://www.trustedreviews.com/reviews/loewe-xelos-a26-26in-lcd-tv

I bought LOEWE XELOS A 26, and there is no sound when it is connected to HDMI... I tried everything I cam imagine, but nothing helped. P.S. When it is connected to SCART - sound is OK. Hi mate. Our only telly is still a Xelos CRT (!), and I have had to much about with a tangle of connections and cables resembling upper reaches of the Amazon, but it’s all fine. I had an issue with no sound that turned out to be a powered scart-to-hdmi converter, where the connectors on the unit were a bit dodgy. It needed careful giggling, and when the sound returned, careful placement so they were not able to move again! Works fine now. As an aside, if anyone has a Xelos that suddenly dies, don’t chuck it. I’ve had mine die twice, and needed a 5c fuse replacement.....
