Saxon Hall
A mate of mine had his Bose 901's suspended from the ceiling on stainless steel wires for decades. Seemed to work as well (or not, depending on your POV) as they did on stands. He now has VAF I-93's, but hasn't tried to suspend these yet. I always thought that the 901 stands looked a bit flimsy anyway.Sent from my F1f using Tapatalk

Daolodish
Got Edward to make me some 4ohm, 8" version of the Sentinel with Tassie Blackwood Veneer. Matches the Blackwood TV unit I found on Facebook Marketplace today quite well I'd say!

skidstar
I just recieved my 1093AQTL's from Adelaide Speakers,Love them.I spoke to many of the hifi dealers, tried to buy handmade local (Melbourne) ,tried to buy used (weird times there, like sellers not wanting to give phone numbers????) and got so sick of the whole process which wasn't helped by the covid thing I sat down one night and read every post in this thread, decided a couple of the main protaginists had some kind of axe to grind, rang Edward the next day and paid for my speakers.10 days later they are in my lounge hooked upto Weston Accoustics Time Machine and 2 x KT120 Topaz, couldn't be happier. Best (just under ) 2 k I've spent on anything...cars,bikes,audio, cooking, knives, wine, women or song for years.Other than a Tannoy itch I need to scratch at some point in the future they may well do me out. Ignore all the BS in this thread and buy with confidence.Beautifuly built and very sweet. Edited May 13, 2020 by skidstar

I have had many many speakers and can not think of another in this price range new that gives you this performance and build quality. I was the same when I bought mine as totally amazed at what I got for my money compared to others I had tried.

:) Go Away (:
I just got myself Summoner 863SQTL for fronts and 253SQ for centre from Edward just a month ago. Never been more happy and satisfied with my home theatre till now that I have these speakers. These are amazing and worth every cents. This seems to be the best investment I have made in my home theatre setup.
bryansamui
'Just arrived' 2 weeks ago my new Ascension M853 SQ (Custom Order) Extra Large 650 x300x400 Standmounts. 28kg!.. Inspired by the Harbeth HL5 only 15 kg ($7500 and Spendor 1/2 which were beyond my wallet.. I was wanting a Slice of that sound and am not disappointed! Wow, what a sound.. Do not regret showing my Martin Logan ($8000 new) the door... Made stands myself ($75) Auditioned speakers up to $4,000 ( B&W 603, Elac 247. 3, Wharfedale Linton, Proac Response(used)..... Nothing really cut the mustard.. Took 20 or so hours for these to smooth out (crossovers burning in??) I haven't heard such fast, tuneful, clean, articulate bass before.. Upright basses etc sound magic. Clean Bass at 30HZ.. Treble is not quite as extended, airy or detailed as my Martin Logans (i was expecting that) but then again, what cone speaker is? It is sweet, still extended but none of that dreaded B&W, Monitor Audio 'Ice Pick in the ear sound' Midrange is more real and organic than the stats. Imaging, probably not as "pinpoint" as the best mini monitors but better than most floor standers.. I am prepared to forgo the ultimate in imaging for for 'very good imaging' with a large sonic canvas.. These speakers are an absolute winner... Uses SB NRX Drivers in Edwards tried and true Transmission Line. Edited June 8, 2020 by bryansamui Toby the Rabbit wanted In

I don't mind, but he gets upset... He got upset when i moved on the Martin Logans.! Yes I took a punt with the Ascensions but nothing up to $4000 impressed.. I couldn't afford Harbeths or Spendors but got a bit of that vibe in there... Really didn't like that 'Exciting B&W sound.. Quite liked the Lintons but these were less Veiled Edited June 8, 2020 by bryansamui
rantan
LOL. I was just reading your post about these in another thread and I realised that Toby was indeed a rabbit,so give him my apologies. I am really pleased that the speakers are working so well for you. Edit: I also agree about the Lintons, I tried to like them and had two separate auditions but I just couldn't even raise a flicker of joy with them and the word veiled is absolutely appropriate for them IMO. I don't really agree about Monitor Audio or B&W but that is definitely for another thread, so enjoy these and rock on! The other saving of course is they're a basic square box... Not one of these Fancy "Canoe Shaped Tapestries" eg Sonus Faber.. Wow, Those are expensive to make.. I can not understand why box speakers can command high prices... They're hardly architectural wonders..
Ruffter
Hi @bryansamui, they look great! Few questions, are they gloss or matt white (can’t tell on my phone screen)? What is the distance from the bottom of the speaker to the tweeter? cheers, Andrew

That will actually cut manufacturing costs quite a bit.. Gloss is very labour intensive. Do you want the measurement from the base of the cabinet to the centre of the tweeter? Guest deanB
Good to hear that you're happy with your speakers, @bryansamui. As I played a minor role in your decision to go with AS for your speaker build, I'm a little bit relieved that you feel that you've got real value for your money. Thanks for your help .They exceeded my expectations. The Bass eased back just like you said it would after about 20hrs.. That is one Sweet tweeter , extended and smooth . Great at low volumes but these speakers don't shout at you when you crank them up. The Bass is Fast /Agile and tuneful at 30Hz. The mid is really organic and real sounding and pops out of the mix... Awesome speakers. Next Step is new Power Amp:: Single Ended Class A Solid state.. Pass Labs Aleph 3A or Aleph Clone. Don't care...

They are 425mm (Bottom of Cab to centre of Tweeter) ... My Cabs are 650mm X 300 x400 ( H W D ) My Stands are 460mm High. (1110mm Toal height) They are quite heavy at 28kg.. Claimed Sensitivity is 91.5 db .. I wonder if you got the same Custom order on your 600 Stands then total 1250mm might be too high ? The Standard Catalogue speaker on their website (Same Drivers) is 500mm High (Not Small).. Would that be a better fit ?
