Just goes to prove what a fantastic drummer Simon Philips is these days.

I have followed his career from the mid 70's (801 - 1976), to ( Toto - 1992-2008 / 2010 -2014) plus various stints with Judas Priest, Michael Schenker Group but he really shines as a great jazz fusion drummer.

Check these chops out along with anything he has done with Antoine Fafard

I couldn't delete this 2nd copy so enjoy it again!

If you like music from the likes of Brand X then this is right up yer cul-de-sac

Now there's some serious talent. Hiromi's body of work is kinda special so along with 2 other classic musos of SP's and AJ's talent, you have a nice trio of minstrels who know no boundaries. Great stuff!

Great track!

Check out Mohini Dey's clip I posted earlier on the previous page, progladyte. She's probably only 15 or 16 in that clip. What a talent.

Igor Paspalj - Full Throttle

...a bit OTT but with definite style, purpose and finesse, rather than a senseless shred

JLCO with Wynton Marsalis - Sloganize, Patronize, Realize, Revolutionize

.....The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet is soooooo good Marsalis barely sees the need to put the horn to his lips at all. A great cut.

Clear as day.... the original US pressing wins. The half speed sounds veiled and lacks clarity. Weird for a half speed remaster.....and for once, a coloured vinyl beats a black!:P

As Steve said, the original US pressing is miles ahead in clarity, definition and presence. The half speed master would be very disappointing if you have paid a lot for it. A very muddy and lack lustre pressing.

So this popped up in my suggested list.  I guess because I love rock and roll?  🤷‍♂️

Berlage Saxophone Quartet - Bach: Goldberg variations, BWV 988 (AvroTros Klassiek)

-- very refreshing to hear these familiar variations arranged for and performed by a saxophone quartet. Sax having been so thoroughly ignored in "classical" music for ages - I didn't realise such a thing as a sax quartet even existed.
