Progressive Rock 101: Why PROG is essential for the Evolution of Mankind.

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

After listening to Bandcamp decided to purchase the Vinyl LP of Hungarian Proggers,  Silent Island, Fall Of Oceans. Silent Island is brought to you by the creators of Black Hill, musicformessier, Realm of wolves, Stvannyr and Ephilexia.

Hi @progladyte

So what is your impression of this ?

JJ

Too early to tell yet JJ.

I tried to listen but had too many interruptions so put it off until time allows.

I have so many projects on the go I often find I run out of time. Whoever said that retirement gets boring needs to live up here for a while to find out how easy it is to completely fill up your day / night.

No opinions yet but I'm optimistic as I think IQ are a great UK band that deserves more attention.

My Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson collection. It’s a “sickness” I tell ya! ?

@patjoy

Poor old Pat has been infected with the Steven Wilson Virus which has been known to cause extreme financial hardship along with marriage breakups over whose turn it is to flip the record over.

There is really only one remedy left for you amigo and that is to confiscate all of your music forthwith. You really don't need that much of it. Just look at the ABC test pattern on the telly and pressing replay should help while away the hours for you until I arrive.

Now what's your address again?

Prog music???

Bah! humbug!

Now there's an obscure record!

Featuring Allan Holdsworth no less.

Strange as it may seem the guy to the left of A.H. looks very similar to my old bass player, the proud owner of Turramurra Music since the mid to late 70's.

Is your copy an original, the 1989 CD version, or something later?

I have the 1989 Japan cd.

Used to have the 1969 mono record but that's long disappeared.

That makes sense. I'd imagine the original on Decca would fetch quite a few pesos over here these days.

I hate to admit it but this is one album from that classic vintage rock / prog era that I don't have. Is it any good?
