Opeth's new spinner Third or fourth spin and I'll admit it grabs you and won't let go. The choruses are so damned catchy and memorable. Musicianship is superb as expected but it's totally different compared to their best ever effort called "Damnation" from 2003 Hope you have the English version, difficult to follow the Swedish libretto JJ

Have to query ELO's El Dorado being there, as well as the Soft Machine album (always considered them as jazz). A few of the tail-enders I have never even heard of. Ashamed to say, only 9. Must admit though, l have not heard of most of the first 30. Got most of the top 5. Take pleasure in listening to 50 down to 30 on Spotify, if listed. I also question ELO being on the list considering many of the great Italian bands such as Le Orme, Museo Rosenbach, Il Rovescio della Medaglia, etc were omitted. Still it's a pretty comprehensive list and one that is hard to question overall. If you guys have enjoyed the prog journey so far, you're gonna wet yer pants when you discover so many of the lesser known bands. Trust me, this will be a multiple orgasm for the ears for decades to come. For those of you progsters with a penchant for digital files, perhaps I can help you out with some samples. This site has come alive. I for one, am very happy. Love sharing the joy.

progladyte
Here's a rough extract from Gnosis2000 for music from England during the 1970's. While most of the inclusions relate to prog and other sub genre, I've included a few essentials like Led Zeppelin / Queen / Roxy etc cos they're so damned good. There are plenty of other great bands from this era but you prolly know them anyway so I haven't included them. You'd be pretty safe with just about anything listed here although Y.M.M.V. Here goes: Genesis - Selling England / Trick Of The Tail / The Lamb / Wind & Wuthering / Foxtrot / Nursery Cryme Yes - Tales of Topographic Oceans / Close To The Edge / Fragile King Crimson - 1st 7 albums Gentle Giant - 1st 6 albums Jethro Tull - Minstrel In The Gallery / Benefit / Living In The Past / Songs From The Wood / Passion Play / Thick As A Brick / Aqualung Cressida - Cressida Brand X - Unorthodox Behaviour Bill Bruford - One Of A Kind Steve Hackett - Voyage Of The Acolyte Gordon Giltrap - Fear Of The Dark Jon Anderson - Olias Of Sunhillow Camel - Snowgoose /Moonmadness / Mirage Gryphon - Red Queen UK -UK / Danger Money Mike Oldfield - Incantations / Tubular Bells Strawbs - Hero & Heroine / Ghosts / Grave New World / From The Witchwood Wishbone Ash - Argus Renaissance - Scheherazade / Ashes Are Burning / Turn Of The Cards BJH - Gone To Earth /Octoberon / Time Honoured Ghosts Be-Bop Deluxe - Live In The Air Age Tony Banks - A Curious Feeling Caravan - 1st 6 albums Curved Air -Air Cut ELP - 1st 4 albums England - Garden Shed Fruup - first 4 albums Mike Rutherford - Smallcreeps Day John Entwhistle - Whistle Rhymes Greenslade - 1st 4 albums Steve Hillage - Fish Rising / Green Mandalaband -The Eye Of Wendor Phil Manzanera - Diamond Head Pink Floyd - Take Yer Pick Anthony Philips - Wise After The Event / Geese & The Ghost Quartermass - Quartermass Roxy Music - Roxy Music Queen - Sheer Heart Attack Atomic Rooster - Atomic Rooster / Made In England Audience - House On The Hill Druid - Towards The Sun / Fluid Druid The Enid - Aerie Faerie Nonsense / In The Region Of Summer Stars Fields - Fields Peter Gabriel - 1st 4 albums Deep Purple - In Rock Led Zeppelin - 1st 4 albums Gracious - 1st 2 albums - these rate very highly and will surprise you. Monk
Okay, so at first look it's post-rock again. But there's definitely a proggy feel to it. Even if to me it sounds a bit too much Pink Floyd like in places. Great album. As are their others for that matter. Sad to say I only have 21 of them. FYI, Number 48, Black Noise by FM. I haven't actually heard it, but I do have a vinyl copy of their Direct to Disc album. Fifteen minutes to each side each of which is one continuous piece. Sound quality is very good, and the music while relatively brief is also very enjoyable. I wasn't actually aware that they had other stuff out there as I thought they may have been created simply to do the audiophile recording. Qobuz has some of their stuff, including Direct to Disc.

FYI, Nash The Slash spent a few years within each decade from 1970's to 1990's as FM's guitarist but as I only have their first 2 albums, I can't really comment on what he brought to the table after that. Mind you, the first album is brilliant and the follow up is pretty good too.
