Just tried 1 with my old yammie Balaji ; got some hum but thats probably because its feeding an unbalanced sub over a very long distance [ you should see my rats nest of cables for emi/rf]. They have a 5 year warranty and should have no problems with a pre amp level input -very solid build

Quote 100 watts/channel RMS into 4 Ohms; two channels driven Many soundtracks dont drive all the channels at once - all channels driven specs just shows the headroom thats available ie what the psu can put out if it has too is the way I look at it ..quoting specs ; The smps - Quote It can deliver over 3 kW of fully regulated power
stuj
Don’t know if you would be interested in these two suggestions I’ve seen over at Audio Science Review a guy building multi channel amps in case you are interested. His quality control is quite good apparently. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/buckeye-amps-new-us-based-hypex-multichannel-amplifier-builder-line-up-announcement.16835/ Also too I purchased some multichannel Purifi / NC252MP amps from VTV as well, and have been very happy with them. They also do 8 channel hypex as well like this one. https://vtvamplifier.com/product/vtv-amplifier-eight-channel-hypex-nc252mp-ncore-amplifier-250wx8/ the build quality now is quite good, well at least on mine when I opened it up.

Did u buy vtv amp here or order from US? Was it 240v model? Have read some horrible build quality issues with VTV amps on ASR forums, how was yours? Cheers! stuj
I did order though the VTV web site, they do build the amps to order and they configure to 240v knowing the delivery address is Australia. In the past when they started building, there were some build quality issues which I believe they have sorted. Ive had two units from them, one the Purifi Eval1 and then the 5 channel which is 3 Purifi and one NC252MP module. I did have a hum develop in one of the purifi amp modules which I contacted Warren about. In the end Warren sent me a replacement amp module which i swapped out (these amps are very plug and play these days) and has been running perfectly now. Having the case open I also saw the quality of the soldering and cabling, to which I can say I didn’t see any issues. All in all a turn around of a week, so I was pretty happy with support being in another country and all, and not having to return an amp unnecessarily OS was pain free. Having said that, I’d be equally confident in the Buckeye amps for the same reason. I think he ships to Australia. The good thing here as I've also stated is that if worst comes to worst, these amps / power supplies can be swapped out pretty easily, assuming you have a basic DIY knowledge, or are just careful and told what to do. So now I have Purifi for my 5 channels (I like to listen to a lot of surround music and concerts… but probably overkill) and NC252MP for the Atmos channels. The second NC252MP is a March Audio unit which I must say is a stunning little unit by the way.

I understand it is for ur setup alone, but interested to see if the said differences translate to real world gains or not? At one point, I even thought of buying 4 March Audio 2 channel p252s for the surrounds. Didn’t want to use up four sockets for surround sound amplification. stuj
To be honest I think the difference is not that substantial but it is clearly there. The Purifi seems to have a broader grip of the music at all frequencies and to me sounds slightly more airy with a good open soundstage bettering the NC252MP ( I know that sounds like a cliche ). When I switched from my NC500 amp to the Purifi, it was like I’d just upgraded to a better DAC in a way, such was the effect it had, which is pretty good by the way to begin with (to my ears). This is all above the obvious difference of the power of each unit. I’m a firm believer of having power in reserve for peaks in music. My speakers are the KEF R series (R500 front, R200C,R300 rear ,R100 atmos/height - 5.2.4) which are notorious for dipping down below 4 ohm so to have a good damping factor and high power works for these. For what you have asked for your case, I think you’d be more than happy with an 8 channel NC252MP seeing as though you already have LCR sorted.
stuj
Oh I might also make mention, I’m using a Yamaha 3070 AVR which has only RCA pre outs. I’m using the monoprice RCA to XLR cables to connect to the power amps, as I believe there is a right and a wrong way to wire these things, and those were the ones recommended on other sites.

BKO
Hey fellas Thanks for the input on this topic. After all that, I decided to try class AB amp to see how different it would be in my setup. So, bought a Rotel RMB 1095 the other week, off classifieds here at SNA. Keen to check out if it changes the sound at all, and how different it might be. If it is any better, then I might even go full AB for all bed channels. Can’t wait for it to arrive. Also, I am adding a Triad Gold 15 inch sub as well, which should be here next week. Might add these separately first, calibrate and then add the second sub and calibrate again. Might even do A-B testing with ATI amp and Rotel ( D v AB). Not sure why, I am a little too excited.! Edited June 15, 2021 by BKO

akeswick81
Hey BKO. I just came across your thread. There is a Starke Sound distributor in Australia: AV ACE. See Oceania https://www.starkesound.com/home/page/dealers.html I haven't heard Starke in the flesh, yet but the reviews online are falttering. There's an 8 channel option. Best, Kez.

Hi Kez Heard good things about Starke sound but haven’t got anyway to audition it personally. I was quoted AUD7500 for A8.350 by the AV Ace rep. Not entirely willing to jump in at that price without having listened to one personally. We don’t get any in home trials here apparently or money back if it doesn’t work for one’s setup. He also said, that Starke Sound wouldn’t sell their products to Aus consumers directly as he is the local dealer? Not sure about Starke Sound anymore but, it seems to be a very good amp from what I can read on the US forums.

Your generally correct though theres outliers for some brands ' especially for the UK and in particular pre pro's which offsets the power amp price
