Hi all,

Any thoughts on these? Found by a mate in his grandparent’s garage!

Worth doing up? Worth moving on?

Kind regards,

Michael

Love my Goodmans Axiom 80. I also like Triaxiom a lot. Have a number of Goodmans drivers and it keeps on growing in my collection. They are quality drivers, some say they are even better than vintage Tannoys.

The ones you got can fetch a lot of money on eBay. Your grandparents got good taste in audio. You don't need to do much, just clean up the wire connections and the dust and slowly powering them up to check if they're working. You could clean up the cabinets too. I like them because they look retro.

One more thing, check the cabinets if you could find ARU ports. They are worth about $200 each on eBay, depending on condition. But looking at your pictures, I reckon they would be in good condition, if you find them.

Oh and get that clothes basket off the top of that left speaker...try to minimize scratches on the tops cos its the first thing you notice with vintage speakers...

Thanks for info! Anyone else have anything to offer?

What amp would anyone suggest? Apparently there was an amp and turntable that went with them.

I was very impressed with a highly modified Leak Stereo 20 driving Goodmans Triaxiom, see pic. As you can see, we're a bunch of Leak Stereo 20 fan and at the top centre and left hand corner of the picture are the Triaxioms with Goodmans ARU vent.

  • 3 weeks later...

Update: think my mate will keep them! Yay! He just needs a nice old vintage amp to play around with them. I’m going to loan him my daughter’s Sansui Au 101, might be a good match...

Cheers, Michael

Very nice ...well done to your mate! And those Sansui AU-101 amps are sweet sounding to listen to as well, very underrated ...how efficient are these Goodmans?!?

If high efficiency the 101's will have no prob driving them...

Fantastic find! 👍 I would borrow a tube amp from Eric McChanson, hook it up and hear the beauty of these speakers. Oh crap - you guys are located in Sydney. I’m coming over with my Uber delivery of valve amps instead. 🤣
