Further information: The Chromecast Audio's sound via wifi is pretty ordinary BUT connect it to an iFi iPowered ethernet adapter and the improvement in sound quality is HUGE.

Used for about 6 months in a second system.  This is a cheap but very good sounding streaming solution.

Shipping is $12.

Great Idea. It sounds pretty good. The IFI power supply makes a huge difference.

And if you want to make it even better, just add a 3.5mm to Toslink optic fiber and you  can add Chromecast to any DAC using the optic out of the CCA.

Yes the 3.5mm output jack on the Chromecast Audio can output either analogue or digital (optical).

Pretty handy thing!

So how does this work - does the ifi power the CCA via the Ethernet Adaptor?

Does the CCA take the Ethernet signal instead of wifi ? T

That's basically it.

iPower feeds the Ethernet adapter which also feeds power and signal into the CCA.

I use powerline networking at home preferring it to Wi-Fi.
