Hi all - for sale is a rare and worldwide limited edition release Marantz SA-14S1SE SACD and PM-KI Ruby Amp in gold - to be sold as one. I have decided I will not seperate these.

All cables, remotes, boxes, manuals and accessories included. Made in Japan.

Amp:
Designed to celebrate the 40-year anniversary of legendary Marantz sound master, Ken Ishiwata, PM-KI Ruby features pinnacle performance that’s synonymous with Marantz excellence. Complete with thoughtful engineering, painstaking tuning and extensive listening sessions, PM-KI Ruby achieves the elevated output worthy of its name. Elegantly shows Ishiwata’s laser-engraved signature to commemorate the design and heightened listening experience that honors the decades-long partnership between him and Marantz.

SACD player:
New Premium Products from Marantz are always reason for the audiophile community to celebrate. And the new 14 Series Special Edition thrusts the audio experience to new levels – because this Special Edition has been lovingly fi ne-tuned and passionately optimized for High Resolution files: marking the new era in music adoration.
The SA-14S1 Special Edition includes a heavy 5mm thick aluminum top lid and highly rigid feet to minimize vibration as well as an oversized Toroidal transformer and a strong power supply section that generates the cleanest of power to eliminate component cross-contamination.
This is the perfect platform reference-quality sound. It includes a DAC-Mode that’s almost identical in functionality to that of the revolutionary, award-winning NA-11S1. It has optical and coaxial digital input as well as USB-B for direct connection to a PC. This means it provides direct high-definition audio streaming from your PC so you can make use of the high quality DAC and the high quality audio output stage with HDAM-SA2 modules. That’s why, importantly, this newly developed player also includes our latest ground/signal isolator technology, to virtually eliminate PC noise.
The player can operate as a soundcard for your PC and the USB-B port works in asynchronous mode to support not only 192kHz / 24bits but also the DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz for maximized versatility and performance. It even has a USB input on the front to play MP3, WAV, and AAC formats, and, of course it’s iPod/iPhone compatible. This is Super Audio CD quality in the sublime, and more. Much more.

Any questions please call / ask. Thanks for looking!

Just so you're aware Rezo, I was offered your SA-14S1 separately for $3k by another user on this forum. Username is liamcos and they used exactly the same photograph, but cropped (probably taken from gumtree). I smell something fishy.

Item Condition: 8/10 Shipping Options: Pickup available and you can audition. Suburb or Town: NORTH MELBOURNE State: VIC Payment Method: EFT or Cash on pick-up preferred Reason for selling: Upgraded Further information:

I bought these amps off the original owner approximately two years ago. I thought they were a revelation compared to what I was using before Prima Luna. And I was also able to see why a fairly modestly priced pair of amps would get such a high recommendation in the Stereophile Recommended components reviews.

In fact these were an upgrade on a Stereo Prologue Premium I was running (and sold when I bought these). One major difference from the upgrade was that instead of running KT88s and then trying KT120s and KT150s on the stereo amp to get enough power, I was able to run these on EL34 tubes and get both a more powerful, yet sweeter sound at the same time (although you can run KTs if you prefer).

I did roll out the original Prima Luna EL34s and replace them with 2 lots of 4 Platinum Matched Tung-Sol tubes which (to my ears) gave an even better sound - the original tubes are provided as well, of course. I don't have a tube tester but I have had no problem with them and I'm guessing they have probably run about 1,000 hours.

In terms of the smaller 12AU7 tubes, I am running Genalex Gold Lion ECC83s, again, to my ears, a significant upgrade on the original tubes.

I replaced these about 6 months ago with a much higher up the tree Pass Labs XA30.8 Class A amp which also offers a sweet, tube-like sound. In that regard it is not that much different, but being solid-state is a possibly a fraction more balanced throughout the whole spectrum (swapping over was definitely not economically rational).

One final note. The previous owner added the mirrors that sit behind the tubes as a "blingy" upgrade. It is not really my style to change away from original, but actually it doesn't look too bad, and so I never took them off - but I think you could easily do so if you prefer.

In terms of a demo, I have one restriction which is that the only pair of speakers I have in the house is an Active pair, meaning I can't easily demonstrate these. If you can bring your own speakers, I can hook them up so you can listen to them in situ.

With the equivalent new pair costing $8k, I think these are a great way to get into tubes in a hassle-free way, with the auto-biasing etc making these no harder to run than solid state amps.

Donation to SNA on sale, unless sold elsewhere.
