I'm told they sound outstanding, but for me, anything with valves or that looks similar to the above is effingugly.

I do like a form follows function aesthetic, and that’s what you’re getting with an amp like this. Everything you can see has a purpose.

I'm tempted to ask how you can tell, when none of the controls have markings...

Not sure what’s worse, the speakers, the gaudy setting or the terrible photoshopping

C'mon, Trev - spkrs that look like that are 'xackly what you need in a gaudy setting like that!  xD

Wilsons just would not fit in.

One is volume, the other is channel selection.
I was referring more to the valves and transformers in my comment though - power on the left side, and two channels of amplification on the right. that’s the amplification right in front of you, it’s all functional.

And you forgot to mention the positioning. Stereo,, with that placement?

Stereo - you are a cheapskate, John!  xD

If you ignore the fact there are no wires on the floor ... you can clearly see that these are merely a part of an all-Metaxas 13.7 system.

Metaxas speakers.

You would have to hope these sounded absolutely fabulous. Manufacture would surely be very expensive and the drivers look just as costly. Imaging going to all this  expense and trouble and they sound ordinary or worse.

Does this Italian Amp make coffees too?!?!?

What a brilliant idea!

Integrate a bluetooth speaker that plays certain tracks depending on your coffee order. Can be a concealed jukebox the rest of the time.

On that note, why not start a thread on repurposed audio gear.

So long as it is not ugly like this one:-

I am sure I have seen these things in one of the ALIEN movies.

Image result for mission amplifiers

Sacrilege!

These are considered by "Missionaries" as Mission's statement amps and admired for their design and performance qualities.

Ok, this may not be appreciated by some of the cognoscenti, but this reminds me of what a robot would see if it had a fridge and opened it...

Looks like the TUBE version of the massive USA made SPECTRAL amps advertised in TAS in the 80's

Tuned length pipes only play motoring songs well. Catalytic converters are required for acid country.

Don't forget full service every thousand hours.

So wanted this back in the day.

serious piece of industrial design. Mission launched the Cyrus One and Two  around the same time and a CD Player which were also ugly (and it seems the Cyrus brand has kept the ugly theme going since then )

Can't stand the older Cyrus gear but I don't mind that.

This from them is awful though
