I can understand the confusion. Perhaps they should reverse the wording and state,

'This is a garbage can.

It is not a speaker.

Do not try to play music through this'...

I always thought Alchemist products looked cool and not fugly - I really wanted one back in the day.

But I did try one of their cd players and the sound didn't measure up to expectations so I passed on it.:(

My first thought on seeing this was "does it harm the mouse when it catches it?"

+1

I actually like the Kraken in the hammertone metal finish. The gold /silver, not so much.

in the interest of finding out the degree of fugliness. Is this guy really serious about his “design” sense!!!???

From his website:

Which bits of his tt gives even a tiny suggestion of a ballet dancer!!!???

I find this interesting.  Here was a dude (or dudess as the case may be) who convinced himself that glossy colours and some 'avantgarde' shapes could generate sales.  I don't think this could even sell to a "gentleman's club" called the "Pink Pussycat".

Nice if you steampunk.  But a steampunk toy can be bought for $100.  I find this annoying because it is so insulting.  They are saying: 'Your values (High Fidelity) are not important.  Rather you should pay a premium for our kitsch. '  I suppose people get what they want.  But as far as we (I ascribe my Hi-Fi values to Stereonet) this is just crap.
