When some one like Duntech does first order Xover and sealed box it makes me smile. It means I’ve got it right all this time with my own builds. I guess after 60 years of electronics and DIY audio I may, just may, know what sound “right” and I know what the “f” I’m doing. I’m not going to see another 50 years but time to bring it all together in one or two builds - flea power tube amps, true retro-thermionic builds.

Absolutely i am going here,i have being thinking about a speaker upgrade for a long time and the search has been never ending.I was getting misty eyed about the Tektons and trying to get some kind of an idea about expense of importing them , sent them an email they responded saying they would get back to me on the costs involved but unfortunately i never heard back from them and i am not surprised with the hell they going through at the moment in the US.

So I thought bugger it i'll go local ,looking closely at VAF , great pedigree and bang for buck in spades very quick to respond to questions from me.

But i am very tentative when spending big bucks as i have what someone here brilliantly said and i quote "I have a champagne taste but a beer budget"

So the search will continue blah blah lol!

What an excellent list, some amazing looking speakers (and some dreadful looking websites). This is the first time I have heard of several of these makers.

The Hulgich Audio Nina reminds me of something from Sonus faber, and Pitt & Giblin Superwax a modern take on a JBL 4350A.

@Snoopy8 has done a fantastic job of collating the list. What would be awesome is if 'we' as a community can attach a list of references/reviews (where ever available) for these speakers brands. Since there are not too many reviews of Australian & NZ made speakers, this would really help potential buyers or others who are interested in the brand.

This is probably a bit task, but if we can all pitch in - especially the experienced and long term members, along with any existing owners, might be possible. What say, Snoopy?

As a starting point, attaching a review of Hulgich speakers from our forum.

An interesting idea.  Some questions, comments:

  • Can we get most, if not all of them to have a SNA reference?  Otherwise, only big vendors with larger customer base will make it
  • Suggest using SNA only references, and 1 link only (easier to maintain)
  • Commercial reviews, including formal SNA reviews should be excluded.  If the vendor does not put links to commercial reviews in their own website, then it is their problem; we are already giving them a leg up and should not be expected to do further marketing
  • Vendors can encourage their users to start a thread here; these users would then add to this list
  • Am willing to update my original post occasionally, but will depend on all of you to build the list up.  It has to be a collective effort of many people.
  • Ideally, people should up accumulate the links into a few posts and I can then update the original post.

Let's see what people's responses are.  If ithere is only a handful of interested people, then it will not work...

Agreed........we'll need quite a bit of community participation to make this work well. No harm in giving it a shot, but like you said, will have to wait to see if others are interested.

Those Pitt and Giblin Superwax mini give me a major case of the wants!  Super cool waveguide, massively high WAF factor.

Yeah, they look awesome. Not cheap at $13.5K a pair, but considering they are fully active with DSP, all you need is a source

Some recent news about them
